IIRC that is water based, so not a lot of use when things start to freeze............. only to be used when things get hot and steamy..... Wink

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

The car was frozen for the first time this morning and wouldn't open at all. Doors were clicking and hazards flashing off the remote button but couldn't open the doors or boot. They were stuck solid.

I didn't want to force it, I used the other car. But is it just a case of giving the door a hefty tug? Not experienced anything like this before and Had many different vehicles in the same lovely cold weather.

Hi all.

I had this problem this morning. Heavy rain last night and when I went out to the car this morning it was frozen solid. The boot opened, so clambered in through there, no easy feat.

I can't remember having this problem on any car I've owned before, apart from many years ago a Clio where the fuel filler cap lock froze a couple of times.

No KY in our house, but I'm sure SWMBO must have some talc.

My door was frozen shut this morning,so I gave it a good yank and it opened. The only thing is it tore a little bit of rubber from the top door seal!

slightly disappointed with heated front windscreen, maybe just where I live high up it really tests it, but would have been quicker just scraping it. Back glass seems much quicker. Doors stuck yesterday also. Never once had a car do that.

A friend told me that Autoglym recommends their Vinyl & Rubber Care product can be used to stop door seals sticking too.

Other providers of similar products are available no doubt!

Hi all,

I have had the same problem with the door seals freezing. Could someone please recommend a specific product that won't damage the rubber? Something from the diving world perhaps? I presume this is happening due to the mega seals that stops the water getting in when wading....

I have some of this so might give it a go! Had a sticky door and a wing mirror not open out.
