RE: Daylight Running Tail-lights

Ah , so the dreaded EU has changed the rules on Scandinavians running on always on tail-lights then? Seems odd to degrade a safety feature specific to Scandinavia if it is actually in excess of the rules!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Daylight Running Tail-lights

The Volvo C30 (4 years old) has rear lights, dipped head lights and front sidelights on all the time the ignition is on.

I think it's easy to think the lights are on because the dashboard is LED and so looks lit all the time, even without the little green indicator that the lights are on. so it's easy to be driving with no rear lights, and often on a overcast day it would be much better to have front and rear DRL's on, but there's no need for headlights as there's nothing needs to be lit up ahead of you, all this does is dazzle drivers coming the other way, esp if it's drizzly rain during the day.

Norway isn't in the EU though, so it shouldn't apply to them ... unless they somehow adopted a regulation!

If you have an Audi you can buy vag.com software and a cable from Ross Tech. With this you can do almost anything to your car. I am suprised that there isnt something similar for Land Rover cars.
The Vag.com isnt cheap and forum members that had the kit often offered to do small changes for free if you happened to be in their vicinity

There are several Speary, but RRE is still a bit new for the makers to have installed RRE systems into them yet.
IID, Autologic and a few more - buy any copy (or browse them in WH Smith to save money) of the 4 specialist LR magazines and you will see them advertised.

Thanks Tim. Just on the magazines, do any of them talk much about the RRE. I like to learn about the tech and development of the car I own. Most of the LR mags I have browsed look a bit hardcore (not top shelf) to me and I am only likely to do a bit of greenlaning or mild off roading

RE: Daylight Running Tail-lights

There is the occasional item about RRE and lately there have been lots or items about the new FFRR, I stopped buying them years ago as there was little of interest to me in them as I'm not trying to rebuild a Series Landy (again, they all seem to have "featured" that over and over and over) . They do have some good greenlaning items and they often do them with a fleet of more modern Land Rovers (and always seem to be really surprised that they can keep up with a leaf sprung Series 2................. well they would wouldn't they and they often exceed the capabilities of a series as well!)
That's why I now read them in store and only buy if I find an item I really want to read over again/ keep.

No we're not but apparently we're enforcing the rules from Brussels stricter than some EU member countries — just because we're member of EEA. I've seen cars on the road in Greece that would be scrapped here long before they reached the condition they where in.

RE: Daylight Running Tail-lights

Yesterday I picked up my new TD4 Prestige. I asked my dealer to change the settings to also have the tail-lights on with DRL, but he couldn't get it working.

So would love to know the exact modifications needed If anyone can provide.
