RE: High pitched whine from behind grill

It's a power inverter, and all Evoques do it, it is also normal on many other modern cars. Some inverters can be noisier than others though.

Have you any more pics of yours Praj, that's not a common blue, only seen it once on the road briefly.

RE: High pitched whine from behind grill

All diesel Evoques make this noise so don't worry about it. What I have found is that if my car has been standing overnight double locked then it is silent and remains silent even if I walk passed with the fob in my pocket. If I have used the car and only single locked it in anticipation of going out again then I have the whining noise for about 15 minutes after leaving the car - I think it is something to do with the HP fuel pump. The whine also starts if I unlock/lock the car even if I am not going to drive it.
As an aside, when I had RRS's and FFRR's their electronic systems used to stay "awake" expecting you to return shortly if you left the car in "Normal" suspension height. If you lowered those cars (and Disco3/4) to access mode then locked them their systems immediately shut down fully.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Thanks Praj, that blue looks way better than I remember on the testers at the dealer, the sun shows it off well too.

I'd recommend the mud guards too Wink

It is a really nice deep blue that really looks good in the sun.

Thanks XFullFatTim. It is really a nice colour. I love the colour and design, but not the whining engine..

It certainly does. They all do

Well question is, does the Si4 petrol model do it? It could be the Fuel pumps priming/unpriming on the diesel, just seems to go on a long time without the engine being used for this. Sounds very Electrical like a noisy Inverter, but no idea what the Inverter would be for as most electronics would be low voltage, except the Xenon lights.

Mine does it too. There does not seem to be any standard time for it doing it though. Sometimes it will be for 20 seconds and other times seems for ever? Very strange. It also does not make a difference with regards to how long your journey was either.

Be interesting to know when its so loud and for such a long time on some occasions???
