Ok then - it appears my protests have been outvoted. I'm a lady not averse to rolling up her sleeves, undoing a sump plug, draining the oil, replacing with some nice synthetic and changing an oil filter in say 20 minutes. Then taking the $100s of dollars I've saved and going out to buy some shoes Smile
I can't believe you fellows would just accept that as a good price when my more expensive Audi cost a little over $200 as I mentioned. At the dealership! It seems the baby, budget Range Rover has allusions of grandeur as it shares a showroom with those big daddy Range Rovers.
I will be interested to see what the first service entails as documentation becomes available to see if there really are gold particles in the recommended engine oil.
As a further comment, I should add that my first service is included here in Canada. So maybe I should calm down as I don't usually keep my vehicles until the second service Surprised
But I am hoping for a long term relationship with the Evoque!
And spiderman, I hate to ask about the servicing costs of your other car but am now imagining you in a stunning Bentley Continental convertible !

Evoque fan who used to drive Shocked a Pure, Fuji, 19" style 4 alloys, heated everything, rear cam, power tailgate, pan roof, privacy glass etc

To compare apples with apples Evoquess, maybe an Audi owner on here could say how much a service would be at a main dealer in the UK, probably a lot more than 200 CAD which is about £125 so not necessary anything to do with being a RR Very Happy

Sould be similar to FL2.

Just had my third service and MOT on FL2 @ £407. The first and second year services averaged at just under £400 each, oil, filter, couple of fuel filters, screen wash (it was already full!!), sump plug seal, grease for the seats etc. Welcome to the world of LR service costs.

Seems a tad steep, Mazda service, oil, sump plug, filters, brake fluid change, pollen filters, seat, door hing lube, screenwash (now so potent it could knock you out!) is usually under £200, and even with plug or belt changes rarely gets to £300 all at main agent, but then it was half the price of the Evoque new and doesn't have Haldex Diff's for 4wd etc!

Most important thing is that they actually do what they charge for, and do it properly!

Evoquess, watch out for your warranty cover if you decide to DIY it in the first couple of years...

One thing you will all learn is that black oval badge on the back and the words Range and Rover on the bonnet and tailgate are signs to everybody to rip you off - especially Land Rover where the price of accessories is in many cases double and in some cases triple that of the same part without the LR Oval moulded into it from the same maker - think carefully about roof rack parts from LR for instance. Same for towing kit and the oil that franchised service outlets use, you pay hugely for that branded label on the canister (especially when in most dealership service bays it comes out of a 40,000 litre bulk tank, not in 5 litre cans) £60 for a 5 litre can of Castrol 5W/30 that you can buy for £24 from Halfords or a good auto supply store and the only difference is the green and grey bottle with a logo on it.........................

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

I take it from comments above that LR are still in the ice age when it comes to servicing. Do they just have annual/ Mileage based service intervals or on demand servicing ala BMW e.g just a change of oil, pads, filters etc as they wear out, or do they use the shotgun approach?

No, some models (i.e. those from prehistory under BMW ownership) still have a usage dependant service system, but all models launched since BMW sold to Ford have miles or interval based servicing - my cars never go the full miles between services, they get one every 12 months. Current generation FFRR's now have a miles/ elapsed time indicator that gives you 1 month notice of when a service is due. I have no objection to once a year having a full medical so why shouldn't my car. If brake pads wear out prematurely then a warning light will come on, LR service outlets will not just replace bits willy-nilly (excepting the few unscrupulous ones), in my experience if your last 12 months usage indicates something will go for another year then they will ask you if you really want it replaced and advise you that it will last to the next service.

One thing I have learned from being on other forums is that people worry about oil changes, especially Americans who think that 3000 miles between oil services is too long! That's fine for them where lub oils are very cheap and it's considered routine to go to a lubing specialist and spend an hour every couple of months having the oil and filter changed, but modern European cars are engineered to go 12,15,18 or even 21000 miles between oil changes. Personally my Defender get an oil change every 12 months, which equates to 1,500/2000 miles with the use I give it, but when it gets used it used hard and LR recommend a lube service every 6000 miles or 6 months anyway for the older cars

My last three services for my 3 litre automatic Toyota Landcruiser have been £135, £150 and £320 respectively (the last was a biggy). I expect the cost of the Evoques to be more as it is a RR (although that doesn't make it right) but £400 is a lot for an ickle carSad

As someone has noted we paid £150 for 5 years servicing for my wifes mini!! Would like that to be offered for the Evoque.

I'd pay £1200 to £1500 for that I reckon. What would you pay?

Arrived 16th December 2011: 5 door Prestige SD4 auto in Barolo black with ambience interior, pano roof, privacy and 20" style 6 alloys.Very Happy

Dealer suggested there will be a montly scheme for servicing costs brought out soon, no idea how much yet but would be beneficial if you're planning on keeping it a few years.
