RE: Satnav bordering on useless

They have already, it was in the Sunday Times Motoring section about 3 months ago! Needs a team of two scallies, each with a transponder / re-transmitter. One stays near to the car and the other follows the person with the key fob, scanning for it's weak transmissions - so long as he stays within one metre of the person with the transponder he can retransmit the signature signals back to the car, unlocking it and disarming the immobiliser ......................... I would like to think that once the car and fob are more than 1 metre apart then the fob stops transmitting but I doubt it has happened

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

No such problems from my Sat Nav. It's taken me everywhere I have needed to go so far. I've had a choice of 3 routes, and you can change the screen between 2d or 3d.

RE: Satnav bordering on useless

There is one function that you find in the LR satnav that no other maker puts into theirs - but I doubt very many owners will ever find out how useless it really is - venture off road and the LR systems has what LR terms as OffRoad mapping - a few contours on a grey screen and that's it! I'm not sure if other manufacturers also have a function that causes the display to show the locations of filling stations when the tank level drops down below a couple of gallons.

If you set the same route 3 times but deviate from it every time then, if the "learn" mode is switched on, the system will default to your preferred route every time you ask for that route.

Just one small tip - there is a function in the satnav called "Home" - I don't know why Navteq / Land Rover persist in fitting this function as it is a security risk if you leave your car in say an airport long term carpark where you have to leave your car keys - it makes it very easy for somebody to power up the car and find your home address while you are away. I just have my house address in as an ordinary destination.

If you select Valet Mode it disables the touchscreen so your address won't be found. Just don't forget the pin!

Arrived: 4WD SD4 Auto, Prestige, LUX Buckingham Blue w/everything apart from rear screens.
Current/ For Sale: C63 AMG Estate.
Gone: RRS TDV8, F360, Boxster S x3, F328GTS, Caterham etc...

But with the Evoque system, the thief will either get lost / frustrated / or run out of fuel before getting to your house.
