Sat Nav and low fuel

I was using the Sat nav yesterday when my low fuel light came on showing that i had 40 miles left in the tank.

the sat nav screen then went to a black screen and a message appeared saying "low fuel etc, the screen will now show all fuel garages in your area" and then went back to the screen and then this showed all the fuel garages that were local to me and with the relative icons to show if they were Esso, BP, Shell etc..great helpVery Happy

I've not seen this on mine.

Is it something that needs setting up?

This is a setting - Not sure what the setting is 'as norm' but I have definitely seen this as a setting (somewhere)

Pure 3dr SD4 Tech Man ; Firenze Red ; 19" Style 3 ; Pano ; Ebony / Ivory Int ; Auto dim rear view ; 2 seats ; Park Aid - Rear cam ; Ext. folding mirrors ; Adap Xenon ; Fogs ; Mud Flaps ; Side Steps - Rec'd 28/12/11 - Sadly going 6/6/14 - Gone, now running BMW X6

I have just had a look at my Sat Nav and there is an option that says 'display petrol stations' which mine is highlighted in blue (you can turn this off by touch to white) this option is under 'low fuel warning' i found it like this:

Show map, then touch Nav menu, then touch click more, and this will go to Nav set up then touch user settings and scroll down to display petrol stations under low fuel warning and touch to highlight blue.

RE: Sat Nav and low fuel

12,000 under my belt and first time I've run it to the low fuel light was at the weekend. Wasn't running the sat nav but wasn't much chance of missing the bloody great yellow petrol pump that appeared in the middle of the instrument binnacle! Showed 52 miles when it came on. 54.68 litres was the read on the fill when I got round to it. £77.04 . Ouch!

RE: Sat Nav and low fuel

The black screen says 'insufficient fuel to complete your journey'.
You can trick it into displaying the warning by just programming a destination further than the range of fuel remaining in the tank.
Great little feature

RE: Sat Nav and low fuel

Not a new thing for Range Rovers, all of the with satnav have always had the feature. Somebody on the RRS forums in the early days relied on it as his 4.2S/C couldn't get from Wiltshire to Central London without a refuel (didn't help that he always used Sport mode locking out 6th gear!)

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
