A bit of useless information, when I bought my Freelander a few years back I went to check out the Skoda Yeti as they were the new kid on the block at the time and were getting good reviews even by the Guru Clarkson, when I spec d a panoramic sunroof AND spare wheel I was told it not possible, even the salesman could not work it out, but apparently after getting in touch with the company, they said that it was to do with the official publicised tech details that the extra weight of the two items together affected the fuel consumption and other details published so they could not do it.
Just wondered with the RRE they have gone to such levels to reduce weight ie aluminium roof etc, that by adding extra weight in extras it will have an effect on consumption. That said at the mo most RRE still relatively new so still loosening up.

Just ordered a Prestige SD4 with Sunroof AND spare wheel. Anyone want a Freelaner.

Sorry, I wil change my car description. Its auto. Don't know if the heated steering wheel uses that much Fuel. I use minimum heat in the car but keep the wheel heated. I think I need to properly assess my driving and note things down in terms of fuel consumption over the distances I travel...

I think that is very good mpg for pure city driving with an auto Sd4

Just an average size town. The car will mainly do a 30 mile round trip to Liverpool during the week which has a mix of motorway dual carriage way and city, so should be a good overall mix

Jitenc, if all your journey is in London and all that stop/start and idling then 27.6mpg is excellent urban mileage, but still well down on the claimed 35mpg

I have to say, all these negative posts regards mpg are putting serious doubts in my mind whether to buy one or not, i'm now starting to wonder once the honeymoon period is over will i start getting peeved at visiting the fuel pumps..
Times are tough enough without putting further financial pressure on our incomes, heart says yes, buy my mind now having doubts..
How many of you guys (& be honest), now the initial excitement of owning the car, albeit for maybe only a short period, are perhaps wishing you'd looked at something else?

If you car is privately run and you are doing "normal" private milage around 8-10,000 miles year then you won't need to stop at filling stations too frequently - the car can manage 450 miles on a full tank of diesel. If you are commuting then yes stop start driving is a killer, but is it with any car - even Hybrids are having problems matching the official figures. I read recently that in real life a Prius is not likely to get 60mpg let alone the 85 that is claimed and the Honda CRZ is even worse. I had a test drive in a CRZ and never saw more than 40mpg in a whole weekend of normal driving and the claimed figure was 56mpg on the combined cycle.
