Real MPG with 2014 model

2014MY Petrol engine mpg -


I'm getting around 30mpg on reasonable distance A/B road journeys.
Around town and shorter journeys, 22-25 mpg.

The 40mpg journey was a 30 mile, fairly level, A-road trip. I was intrigued to find out what absolute max mpg I could achieve. It was painful to do and I won't be trying again!

The 16mpg trip was a 25 mile run on back roads to the airport. Several overtakes and quite a few full throttle accelerations.

I have yet to do a brim-to-brim check to find out if the trip computer mpg figures are accurate.

I got 51.2mpg on my 14 mile journey home....town and main roads driving, picked car up on 8th March so new and tight engine.

So, now done around 700 miles, and I'm averaging 47 MPG according to the trip computer. Most recent journey, an 80 mile trip up the A9 from Kincraig to Portmahomack, with cruise control on most of the way at 57 MPH, we got 54 MPG.



Based on actual fuel put in the car and mileage, the true MPG over the 700 miles is 45 MPG, so the trip computer over-reads by about 2 MPG. I'm very impressed with the fuel consumption, better than the 42 MPG we used to average in our 1.2 2WD Skoda Yeti!

BUT also just don't blindly accept everything that the trip computer tells you. Yes this was a genuine trip and yes I'm sure that I did achieve that mpg BUT it was over 1 mile down a very steep hill without putting my foot on the gas at the top of the hill or having to touch the brakes on the way down! So there is potential if you live at the top of a very long steep hill to get really good mpg!

Also, is the key fob still the same, with that rubber side that has the tendency to lift around the edges? If it's different, then a pic would be great too. cheers.

Hi, I am new to forums so please accept my apologies if i have replied in the wrong place. I was in search of anyone else experiencing lag as i thought maybe it was just me being picky (lady driver)....i have the 2014 9 speed auto and am suffering terrible lag at low speeds and also when wanting to put my foot down on motorways to overtake etc

Should it be something i can take up with the dealers, is it something that can be fixed....so gutted as i love the car and i've only had it 4 weeks....Thank you

This obsession with fuel economy is going too far when it affects the drivability of the car.

The old 6 speed transmission is certainly slow witted in realising you want it to change down and the hope was that the 9 speed would be better. Try driving the car in S mode or use the paddles to change down before you want to overtake but (if it's still like the 6 speed), you'll need to change up manually when you are done.

I have tried in sport and dynamic modes and no real change, havent played with the paddles yet though, I am sending it back to dealers to see if there is anything that can be done but doubt i will have any luck. Really disappointed as i love the car !

MPG Hasnt been too bad though 35-45 ish for me so far

I think you need to take the car into the dealer as my 2014MY 9 Speeder has no discernable lag. With my 2011 6 Speeder it was only noticeable when pulling away.
