No Stock Of Style 7 Shadow Chrome 20" Wheels.

LR has been selling Shadow Chrome alloys since about 2008 without any problems so I wonder if a bad batch has arrived from the Italian makers

Who are the Italian makers Tim, is it ''AT Italia'' ? I'm so glad i got mine on, and outa there just in time.

And to think not so long ago a company called GKN Kent Alloys close to me in Strood, Kent made Landrover wheels. They made for Rover Group, Peogeot & others too. All down to cost I suppose.

I went into my Dealer asking to change my Style 6 to Style 7, and was told that it would make me loose my build slot.

Im not the most technical or engineering type person...but I would have thought it would be pretty easy to change the wheels on the order?

Anyhoo....I was told that I can do it after delivery, as the dealer knows a place that can get it done. But it would cost £450 rather than the £225 if I upgraded at time of ordering...So i thought I would leave it.

I then went into another dealer and asked them how much it would cost to change over ie order them as a spare part etc....he said that on the order system, there are 2 types of 20 Inch which are called Style 7 on the system??...and one 19inch which is called Style 6 on the Spares System.

Confused?..I was...

So I have decided to leave my 20inch Style Silver Wheels.

Fingers Crossed.....my car should go into production tomorrow...

They are LR024426 and can be picked up between £400-£510 each (inc vat) and it will cost about £120 to swap the tires over, which includes any rebalancing......

I looked into swapping to style 7s, but having now seen the style 6s on my newly built Dynamic, I'm not going to change - the sparkles look great and match the aluminium on the front and rear bumpers nicely.

I have asked the question about the Style 7 alloys to my dealer since I have them on order and I wanted to know if they were going to be replaced by Style 6. He told me that "the problem has already been solved" and that I would get the Style 7. So I guess they have renewed their stock.

i missed out on the style 7 due to stock. however I'm just going to forgoe the Tyre and Alloy insurance and have them refurbed to black when all wheels are curbed !

I've also had a call from my dealer to notify me that LR cannot fulfil my Style 7, Shadow Alloy wheel order so I've switched to Style 6. Not really that bothered to be honest both set of wheels look nice. Was offered an aftermarket solution, the dealer has someone who can turn the style 6's into shadows - will visit and check out some examples this Friday.

Style 6's look fabulous on the Orkney Dynamic, just to reassure you....!
