My reverse mirrors are not working

My evoque is 2017 SE TECH and I have followed these instructions to set up my reverse mirrors:

MIRROR DIP WHEN REVERSING
If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats,
when reverse gear is selected the door mirrors
can be set to automatically adjust, providing an
improved viewing angle of the curb side for
reversing. The Reverse-dip mirror feature
must be switched on. See 56, VEHICLE
INFORMATION AND SETTINGS MENU.
The exact dipped position can be adjusted
while the mirrors are dipped;
1. With the ignition on, select reverse gear.
2. With the mirror adjust controls, adjust to
the desired dip position.
3. Select neutral (N) gear. This will store your
setting for future use.
The next time reverse is selected, the newly
adjusted position will be selected.
When the gear selector is moved out of
reverse, the mirrors will return to their previous
position.

BUT...

This is not working for me nor is my memory saving the mirror angle I chose. Infact the mirrors start to go back to my normal driving angle once I begin to reverse. Sometimes it will dip the mirrors slightly when reverse is selected however not to my chosen angle so I can't see the curb on the back wheel. It is very frustrating so now I just manually do the mirrors when reversing. Does anyone have any similar issues or have any suggestions for a fix?

RE: My reverse mirrors are not working

The MY 16 and 17 manuals say:

NOTES
If the vehicle's speed exceeds 12 km/h (7 mph) in Reverse ®, the door mirrors return to the normal driving position for enhanced visibility.

Mirror dip can be enabled or disabled via the Vehicle Settings menu in the instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.
Selecting Reverse ® gear causes both door mirrors to automatically adjust, providing an improved viewing angle for reversing.
The dipped position of the mirror is a preset position. In R, the mirror can be adjusted, but the new position cannot be saved.
When the gear selector is moved out of R, the door mirrors return to the previous position.

Does sound like the reverse dip function in the dash menu might not be enabled

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: My reverse mirrors are not working

I thought the MY16 Did not store the user selected position for the reverse dip... a much complained issue on the EOC forum. Don't know about MY17 if they re-instated it if that's a snippet from the MY17 manual?

RE: My reverse mirrors are not working

I have a MY16, mirrors dip when reversing. Haven't tried a custom reversing position, didn't know you could do that on prior models.

I will try it tonight.

RE: My reverse mirrors are not working

I have a my14 with this feature. First time I used it, the mirrors were more or less pointed to the floor and I found it to be completely useless! Since then I have adjusted it to my preferred angle. Enable the feature in the menu, select reverse, adjust mirror to set angle then save it using the preset memory seat. This worked for me. Very Happy

RE: My reverse mirrors are not working

You can't save the dipped mirror positions on MY16/17 cars. I put an extract from the MY16/17 handbook in my previous post.

Ah ok that explains a lot, thanks for confirming. The mirrors don't dip enough when in reverse.. what a pain.
