fam1x - either you have a really heavy foot, spend a lot of time in jams or you have a duff car. I'm no stranger to the right pedal and my SD4 is averaging 37 mpg over the last two years.

Stop/start London driving I expect.................... glad I live out in the sticks and commute by Boeing or Airbus rather than Evoque.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

fam1x - do you think your poor mpg could be linked to this ?? (post #5)

I don't know what the problem is, I did take it back to Landrover to check and they said its fine. However I am thinking I should change the car for something else Sad as much as I like the car, problem is what do I buy.

I do a lot of city driving and like 90% so kinda expect it to be low mpg but not this low. I've not checked my break pad maybe I should..

My last car was an Audi TT and I regularly got over 50 mpg so I was expecting similar. Range rover have told me that you can not rely at all on the posted figures and they have requested that I note every single journey for the next 6 months which I think is a little ridiculous. Any thoughts? Evil
Hamish,

This is probably the topic that has generated the most discussion on this forum (apart from which colour to get [black in case you were wonderingLaughingLaughing]). If you are getting 39mpg on a m'way then that is about par for the course. My 1st (TD4 man) got 36mpg at 80mph, my 2nd (SD4 man) was getting 38mpg, but have now seen this rise to 41 mpg thanks to a CR2 Tech Box.ConfusedConfused

RE: Mpg

Modern diesels are not good for short town journeys due to the pesky DPF. I do a mixed commute of urban roads and motorways and I get about 45 going to work but every few weeks it drops to about 32. I presume that the DPF is regenerating. With many short journeys the DPF will not get the chance to regenerate and eventually your engine light will come on
I suggest that every couple of weeks you do a brisk motorway drive for about 20 to 30 minutes. You should use a gear that will keep the engine revs above 3000

RE: Mpg

23 miles to the American Gallon though! And in an Si4 which isn't so bad, we winge about the supposedly hypermiler Diesel engine which cannot hope to get within 20% of what you call the EPA figures and we call the EU "Official" figures
