The under mirror surround cams are useless at night, you really need to be able to activate the puddles lights for them to have something to "see"

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

From my understanding, there is no way we can turn the puddles lights on and off, apart from during unlocking the car.

That is so. That's why I put "you really need to be able to activate"

Maybe RR should install night vision cameras on the side Laughing

Then folks would complain they are useless in the daytime!

Well, checked to see how they work at night and obviously any ambient lighting helps but they aren't great. I could just about make out the kerb on a non-lit road due to the faint glow from the light available from the front and rear of the car itself. Better than nothing I suppose but not as confidence inspiring as during the day.

I reckon I'll still rely on opening the door and checking rather than relying on the camera's at night!

Thanks for the info!
Is that mean it is possible to see the kerb as long as there are some lights around e.g street lights?

20 inch shadow chromes with no issues. On a separate note, I have had 19" on my RS4 and haven't had any curbing issues that I didn't do myself through stupidity (pulled too close to curb twice). Also, in 7 years they have barely bent even in the ridiculous roads around Boston.

Yes, so long as the street is lit it is possible. The cameras aren't HD and not wonderful even during the day in terms of clarity compared to the mega pixel cameras we carry around with us for photography nowadays but they are functional during the day and you can make out what is going on in the dark too but obviously the less light there is the worse it is.
