theres not a big difference, basically the 0W is thinner at cold than the 5W, I am surprised as the ford group of companies as well as Peugeot use a 5W-xx type oil, the 0W-30 oil is a viscoity that the old Volvo arm of the shared engine platform chose. As the Land Rover 2.2 engine is based on these platforms then I would have assumed they should use a 5W-30 viscosity.

The oil should be a 5W-30 as per the Land Rover specifications.

I am surprised they have done this, I think it would be worth checking with them why they chose this vicosity.

Following the post I wanted to add another comment, the Volvo 0W-30 specification also engines that utilise DPF aftertreatments.

Evoking is right the oil should be DPF friendly and meet the necessary LR requirements

Good point about the DPF part. My new mowers with Briggs & Stratton petrol engines now require 5W-30, but obviously not for DPF. So it's critical to ensure that it's the 5W-30 oil for DPF. Shell for example do both types of 5W-30 oil.

Will call in the morning. Reckon they will try to fob me off.

They said the did use the 5w 30 oil. System error on there so it came up on the invoice as 0w 30. Hope it's all true because I may top it up at some point.

I like to think that is was system error, still was a human who put the initial data on, unless barcoded. Doh.

OK the TCM update seems to have worked as far as improving the quality of the auto-box gear changes is concerned, in D they are all but imperceptible now, still a slight snatch when using paddles and S mode, but it is vastly improved. I'm not sure if the reflash has changed the change up revs as I managed to achieve an overall mpg of 36.8mpg with the roofbox on.
That was removed in 3 minutes as soon as I got home, just have the crossbars to remove. Removing the LR roof box is sooooooooooooo easy, undo the 4 knobs that open/ close the rail clamps and lift it off, as simple as that, and it is very light too so a one man operation with a set of steps.

My car is going in on the 19th to get a few niggles fxed - mainly the suspension ticking and wheel alignment.

Have asked them to check for any software updates to be applied particularly for the gearbox - lets see what they say.
