Break-in Procedure?

Break-in Procedure?

I have tried searching this website and the owners manual to find if there is any sort of recommended break-in procedure with the Evoque (Si4 or 4 cylinder Ecoboost turbo engine). The only thing I can find is the recommended 1st oil change is after 1 year. Does anyone have any additional information.

Engines in modern cars are pretty much bed in by the time the leave the factory, but if you're concerned don't go over 4,500rpm for extended periods for the first 1,000kms/650miles.

There is no "break-in" or running procedure for the Evoque, like 99.99% of modern cars. What I was advised was "don't let the engine labour at low revs in a high gear" " don't go above 3000rpm for the first 1000 miles" " watch the oil consumption" Mine is a diesel with a high carbon content block that absorbs oil in it's early life, yours is an Si4 with Aluminium Alloy block so not a problem.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

i searched but couldnt find anything so i just didt rev past 3000rpm for about 3K.
Hows the GTR? Did Nissan ever sort out the tranny issues?

Have you or anyone else had to top up as yet? I am asking as if the oil is not easily obtainable, I may as well order some now.

Prestige SD4 Auto, Ipanema/Ambience, Style 4 Wheels, Pan Roof, Privacy, Dimming Mirror, High Beam Assist, Surround Cameras, Spare Wheel, Mud Flaps.

Ok that all makes sense...I just wanted to be sure that there wasn't anything special to be done. I also got an e-mail from the dealership that sold me the car claiming that my scheduled service is due soon (I bought the Evoque less than 3 weeks ago). This sounds like the dealership is just trying to make money on an unneccessary service.

I love my GT-R. It is a completely different animal with downpipes, mid-pipe, intake and tune. It has a rougher edge (more personality) now. I haven't had any transmission issues (knocking on wood). There are some transmission pieces that probably need to be replaced for longevity, but they seem to have less problems now that the original launch control (LC1) which was very abusive on the tranny (4,500 RPM launches) has been reflashed on most of the '09 cars. I have only used the reflashed launch control (LC2 launched under 3K RPM) once and I didn't like how it short-shifted into second so I haven't used it since. Even without using launch control I ran a best 10.838 @ 128.4mph at the drag strip. I may bring it to a road course...but once you start doing that the high maintenance costs start coming at an accelerated frequency.


BTW your Exige must be so bad @ss..... how much does it weigh?

I added a small amount of LR's own brand to top it up, purchased from a local dealership. It only needed to raise the level about 1/4 of a dipstick to get it to the full level so I doubt that any damage has been done if it isn't the right spec oil. Since October it hasn't needed any more oil and the level hasn't changed in the last 3 weeks
