Brake pad wear
Just had my 2012 Evoque serviced (13,400 miles). The Health Check Sheet they give you indicates that my rear brake pads are wearing heavily and more than the fronts. The service chap said they are finding this with this model. Has anyone else had this?
They say all pads (front and rear) start at 10mm (at least that's what's on the health check sheet) and you should think about changing them at 3mm. My fronts are down to 8mm so loads of driving left on them, but the rears are down to 5mm and this gives me about another 3000-4000 miles. I've never had a car with such huge brake pad wear and especially on the rears. I would have expected the fronts to show wear first and certainly to last more than 16-17,000 miles on one set of pads. I've never had to change my pads on any of my cars in the 3 years I own them.
Has this been noticed by anyone else?

I changed mine F/R at 27k miles.
The wear was even on all pads, and they had about 3mm left.

If the wear ridge on the disks is anything to go by mine seems to show greater wear on the rear disks which is a bit bizarre.

Suggests that the EPB might not be releasing fully, that may also account for increased mpg if you are getting poor figures. My car will be due it's second service in the Autumn at around 20000 miles, so I will be interested to see if mine need replacing then as they were not replaced last year. Certainly compared to my first RRS tat had Crapintenal tyres, my Evoque still has masses of wear to go at 18000 miles, I had already replaced both fronts on my TDv6 SE RRS which had completely worn the shoulders off the continentals it was shod with.
A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

This must be the 1,000th time I've had to repeat this information. Brake discs corrode all the time the vehicle is left standing, particularly in rain or when condensation is heavy. It's worst in the winter. About 95 per cent of a car's braking is done through the front – the rears only come into play to provide balance during heavy braking. Every morning, braking cleans the night's surface corrosion from the front discs but little or none from the rear. Corrosion gradually eats into the rear discs and they become grooved, leading to heavy wear of the pads.
Done 2 sets of rears on My Volvo C30 to 1 set of fronts by 60000 miles, heavy daily driving.

A few members including me have noticed that the rear wheels have more break dust than the fronts

Had a quick check of mine 13000 miles about 7mm rear, 8mm fronts definitely more dust on rear wheels.

26,500 miles and my MY12 was in the dealership last week. No mention of anything running low on breaks from them. Will be in for its 2nd service in about 2.5 months so we shall see then. Very little break dust on my rear wheels ever

Had 2nd service done on Friday (52,800km's ie. approx 33,000 miles) and both front and rear was replaced. Front had about 4mm left and rear 3mm was 7mm (front) and 6mm (rear) after 1st service. So wear seems fairly even.

Mine proved me wrong today, fronts had more dust when washing! Mind you if you saw the braking manoeuvre I had to do today thanks to a Freelander that pulled out straight in front of me on a 60mph road, he even saw me and stopped and then decided to go for it with no chance in hell of making the move without me emergency stopping! You cant half make the thing stand on its nose when you hit the brakes hard!
