RE: Am I being too fussy?
on the spoiler pic in this post:
http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Am-I-bein...2#pid37152
you can see the moulding line, and where it is circled is where the paint blends over the moulding... ie it seems that the painting/blending wasn't extended across the whole length of the spoiler.
Reading other threads suggests you might want to also look closely at your bumper to see if it thins, ie, can you see the plastic showing through?
Ordered: Fuji Dynamic Lux Coupe / style 7 wheels / Privacy glass / adaptive xenons / something else which I've forgotton.
Should be end of April (was March, then April, then end of May/June).
Collected, Friday 13th April 2012

RE: Am I being too fussy?
another question for people in the know out there. how difficult would it be to replace the leather dash topping??

RE: Am I being too fussy?
Not difficult, they are usually one piece and held on by some hidden rivinuts, the problem with removing them is usually getting them back rattle free and properly sealed up to the screen edge.
A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

before i go on, i am totally over the moon with my purchase and there are so many things i love about the car which have already been discussed on this forum. but there are also some things that i am not to happy about.
1. of the problems was the way the headrest sat into the drivers seat, this has already been looked into and i just have to get the seat swapped by the dealer.
2. part of the paint issue, the spoiler does not seemed to be finished properly. i thought that this would just be a quick fix at the dealers, but now they are asking that i wait for some head office guy to come visit the island and see it for himself before any fix gets done.
3. now this has been bugging me for a while, the leather topped dash. i know leather is not perfect and ment to have all manor of marks in it. but in the rest of the car, the leather looks great.
on top of the dash you can see these marks which look very obvious in the light, it looks like there is to much foam or glue underneath or just a funny area of the leather itself.
4: then during washing i also noticed that the trim sticks out a bit on the drivers door at one end, the other side is fine, lines up like a dream.
these last 2 issues are ones that i have not told the dealer about as yet, and i would like some honest opinions of if this is acceptable or not.
I would complain and expect a fix on all but the door trim. I have inspected this trim closely and think that yours is lined up close. I really think LR will end up redesigning the clips used to hold his trim in place. The shape of the trim is not the same from back of door to quarter glass on the coupe. I suspect the rear door on the 5 door finishes a transition and that piece is missing because the rear door is not on the coupe!

Am I being too fussy?
Hmm I may have just live with odd marks I have on my leather topper. You can only see them on on coming light any way. The official from land rover Spain was at my dealers running through what could be done with the problems I had with my car. The painting, trim and seat are being done in 2 weeks. But he said the dash topper was a very difficult job due to the way it was put together in the factory. I don't really believe this, but as you said Tim, my worry is how the dealers would fit all this stuff back together. They are the only dealers on the island I live on. And have not the best reputation for repairs.

RE: Am I being too fussy?
well the car whet back to the dealers to have some of the issues fixed on tuesday. was meant to be ready today but in true spanish form, they have only got round to looking at it and ordering some parts, so they are maybe thinking monday or tuesday next week.
lets see what it will be as the hire car they gave me from land rover assist has to be back tuesday!
my already low faith in the garage started to dwindle even more when the guy started to tell me that they can not order a whole drivers seat to replace mine, only separate parts and once they start the work on the seat it may not be of the same quality of the build in the factory. and do i want to go ahead with this work?
i just told them that i expect it to be fixed, and it is land rover responsibility to do so, and if the seat is not of a high standard when returned to me, then it will just keep coming back.
i also hinted at the possibility of car rejection if these problems cant be fixed, not sure if these problems warrant that, but i am starting to get tired of a smiling dealer trying to fob me off.

Maybe they don't want to order a complete seat, but they MUST be able to surely - they don't assemble the seats in the car a bit at a time at the factory, so they must exists at some stage as a completed seat ready to fit. After the doubts they expressed about the finished job, I'd insist on nothing less.

RE: Am I being too fussy?
Stick to your guns and be patient - don't blow your stack. A lot depends on your relationship with your dealer, that is my experience with Audi/VW/Mercedes and have yet to see how Land Rover cope as I’m new to the marque. My experience tells me if you keep them on side you will prevail, not ideal but patient will win you through.
Keep pressing but keep them on your side. Best of luck with this.
