RE: 2020 Evoque vs Original

In the past you bought an Evoque, now you buy a little Velar. Because you can't afford the real Velar???
I will defenitely not go for the new model.

RE: 2020 Evoque vs Original

I agree about the mini Velar look but the basic design hasn’t changed much, it is still recognisable as an Evoque. I am really amazed with all the flack that JLR has received about their products mostly having Diesel engines that they haven’t made more effort to launch it with the 48v mild hybrid system or a PHEV as they already have the tech from the P400E version of the RRS and that is selling well but is rather over priced. I suspect that they are going to wait for the 3 pot 1.5ltr Ingenium engine to come on line. I just hope that when they do bring the 3 pot engine out it is as smooth and quiet as the Ford and BMW 3 pot motors. They will have to work very hard on the NBH if the Ingenium 2.0ltr petrol I drove recently is anything to go by - my Countryman’s 3 pot BMW engine is silky smooth and almost silent, to the extent that it is impossible to tell when it switches power sources in normal driving - sure if I stamp on the gas pedal you know from the raspy exhaust note at higher revs that it’s switched to combined petrol and electric mode.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: 2020 Evoque vs Original

It is being launched with 48v mild hybrid

November 2019 the PHEV arrives. Better late than never I suppose.

I like the look of the new one, and I’m considering replacing the Velar with the PHEV model, it’s grown up and was inevitable that it would take design features from the Velar just like the rest of the RR range was upscaled Evoques.

So for me it’s an improvement, it takes everything that’s good about the current car and makes it more the baby Range Rover. Velar is the better all rounder for me at the moment.

2020 Evoque vs Original

I’m liking it but prefer the base one without the silly fins on the front bumper. As for mini velar just cause it’s got those door handles. They’re gonna find those handles on all new RR the RR sport will be next to get em. Looks like that’s my wife’s next car sorted when my pcp’s up in 14 months [emoji106]

Tiny changes, slight more modern with the cleaner look, looks pretty much the same really, Interior updated, not enough colour options, and that ghastly Launch Grey. I like it but will be sticking with mine for a few years yet.

It’s about the only colour worth having IMO.
