How much weight are the OEM rails rated for?

Thanks... Not sure if worth the 5x in price for the 50% increase in capacity...

RE: Ebay Roof Rails

i guess my concern was that the seller was just pulling numbers out of his bum. he could not provide me with a spec sheet telling me exactly how much weight the rails could hold. imagine carrying 2 mountain bikes on the rails and during an emergency braking period, the bikes overtake you from above .....

I recieved mine yesterday and they are perfect. They look identical to the original. No regrets here.

Guys, I'm planning of getting these rails too but was wondering if the ate easily removed once installed? I'm gonna be using them once or twice a year so prefer them to be uninstalled most of the time.

RE: Ebay Roof Rails

Neo this was a worry for me too, I had the OEM rails and crossbars fitted two weeks ago and have not noticed any penalty in the fuel consumption or wind nose running with them on all the time. The OEM crossbars are a pain to fit and remove, I wouldn't want to be putting the rails on and off as there is a "noise-proofing" closing plate that changes with rails on to a different section with rails off............. another pain to avoid whistling with the raid off. The OEM crossbars come with a well padded storage bag.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

No they're not easily removable. If you want a removable solution and it's even cheaper go for the Thule 754 feet with 1663 adapters for the Evoque.

You can choose from 762 standard bars, 862 aerobars or 962 wingbars - the whole lot will cost you between £130 and £170 depending on your choice of bars.

Takes less than 5 mins to get them on and even less time to take them off.

Leave them on Neo, after a few weeks you won't even notice them! they do fit really low and look very good IMHO..

Yup, I bought the Thule rail system already but haven't mounted them on yet. The reason why I wanted to change to the this rail system is bc I wanted the roof to be wrapped in black vinyl. However it is not recommended as the Thule unit will scratch the vinyl and tear it. I was planning to sell the Thule racks then buy this eBay roof rails and then be able to get the roof wrapped in vinyl. Am I crazy with this logic??? Otherwise I prob forget about the roof wrap and just use the Thule racks instead?
