It had to happen - it cannot be sold in it's present form in the USA as well, hasn't been sold there since 1977 due to American rules for airbags which Defender has never had. The only modern safety devices fitted to a Defender are inertia reel seat belts (not even sure that they have pre-tensioners on them) and ABS brakes are an extra cost option on many versions. It is also a very very expensive vehicle for LR to produce as it is virtually hand built, they aren't cheap to buy either.

It's all good news for used values though!
