Death of the Defender

Don't think I've seen this elsewhere here, but apologies if I've missed it.

RE: Death of the Defender

It had to happen - it cannot be sold in it's present form in the USA as well, hasn't been sold there since 1977 due to American rules for airbags which Defender has never had. The only modern safety devices fitted to a Defender are inertia reel seat belts (not even sure that they have pre-tensioners on them) and ABS brakes are an extra cost option on many versions. It is also a very very expensive vehicle for LR to produce as it is virtually hand built, they aren't cheap to buy either.

It's all good news for used values though!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
