Private Plates - PigLauncher - 03-04-2012 09:10am

Naff or nice.

RE: Private Plates - XFullFatTim - 03-04-2012 02:31pm

Undecided, some are naff and some make me smile, the vast majority only mean something to the person that owns it. Would I spend zillions to buy something Like F1 or KINGS? No I wouldn't.

RE: Private Plates - Pommyboi - 03-04-2012 03:19pm

It depends, they are not all naff but BO55 which I saw on a RRS in Brum and DEL BOY which I saw on a new FFRR on the M1 last week are.

I'd be happy with JH1 on my car because it means something to me, I just don't have £250,000 spare.

Nice - I have a £250 one with my initials in it from the DVLA. Some people like the world to know that they have a new motor, I don't and prefer to be more discreet. The vehicle doesn't have a visible age which tends to (in my experience so far) to keep the jealous vandals away as well.

Mine is exactly my initials with even the 1 as in R1 - RIchard coming into play
And it was a birthday present 3 years ago.

We don't have an option over here. We are given number plates when we first get a car then keep them forever. They are linked to a person not a car.

RE: Private Plates - RacingSnake - 03-04-2012 09:00pm

If you have to butcher a plate to make it read something it's not then it's naff.
If it naturally reads either something personal (name) or a clever word without bodging screws into it, then it's nice. Smile

Oh dear piggy, I'm guessing these are not the results you were looking for.

Laughing No they are not. But it's early days. The tasteful crew might be along shortly.

My plate has the initials of my name, means nothing to anybody else. It keeps the nosy neighbours guessing whether the car is new or used.
