My Evoque has not been near the Dealer in the 6 months since it was new and, all being well, it won't go there until it's first service is due... RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - PhilSkill - 29-10-2014 01:50pm There's no way of knowing I feel. Currently there are No outstanding Campaigns on Topix for me, so these don't cover software updates like the security updates you mention I'm guessing, and it's about to be a year since my last service. And if updates come out after this service, I could go a year without security updates, and will never know if there are any available? As mine will then be out of warranty I'm sure a dealer will charge even to check if there are any? RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - Sarcastrix - 29-10-2014 03:19pm I had my car serviced last May and there was no mention of any updates, surely you shouldn't have to pay for a service to get these important updates? @Pete, if we send you our VIN numbers can you check the update status or can we check in the service menu? i'd be interested to know which version of the software my car is running, after all the time it's spent in Land Rover workshops being fixed. RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - THEMACS - 29-10-2014 08:20pm Hello there! Hope everyone is keeping well Just read an article on Daily mail re these issues and note there is a feature on watchdog on Thursday where they will presumably give people some new ideas on how to steal a car!!!! The daily mail article says the Evoque is the easiest and quickest to steal at 10 seconds!!!!!!! I'll give it a whirl in a few mins... it was this in case anyone was wondering: 03705000500 (30-10-2014 09:28pm)THEMACS Wrote: Yep, 10 Seconds!!!!! Frightening!!!!!Worth noting their test cars were already unlocked... so it'll only be "10 seconds" if they're prepared to push the window through and clamber in to get access to the inside of the car in the first case... so alarm going off, and potentially lots of associated noise. RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - BaringTech - 30-10-2014 09:48pm Hanging on the phone here... In a queue listening to the muzak. 20 minutes so far... RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - XFullFatTim - 30-10-2014 09:55pm i'm hanging on now, the number is recognised! RE: How secure is the Evoque and........ - BaringTech - 30-10-2014 10:04pm Finally got though. Advised to contact my dealer who has been fully briefed on the problem. They will need both keys and will carry out security checks and install any missing software updates. They could not tell me if these missing software updates could/would actually fix the problem! Will be calling my dealer first thing tomorrow. |
