In a welcome and surprising turn of events I was notified today my Evoque is in transit to dealer and will be available for pickup this weekend, well ahead of Apr 7th target date!

Huzzah! Hoping mine, having been built ahead of schedule, is popping into Baltimore soon and ahead of delivery schedule too!

Collected and very happy with the car. 13 delivery miles. Showroom looked great with the 2 in there. (I feel sorry for the poor silver freelander unveiled just after the 2 Evoques!)

Was great to meet Tim - the Zanzibar with Tan interior works really really well in the flesh so I am sure he will be very happy.

Trip back to Essex was uneventful. Air con seats on the premium interior pack are great and super comfy. Not sure what the fuss is with complaints on the sat nav as it works well and looks great for me.

Happy to report the intelligence pack with traffic sign recognition works a treat - it even recognised to variable speed limits posted on the gantry due to a "traffic incident".

I am looking forward to spending some with with the car alone tomorrow in the sun for some photos and play.

Mark good to meet up with you at long last. Yes I am very pleased and it is good that Evoques in strange colours still grab attention as I had lots of people staring and pointing on my run round to west London. I'm surprised how much quieter the car is than my last one - and the 9 speeder's gear changes are super smooth, I even got up to 70 on one derestricted section of the North Circular and the rev counter was showing only 1300 RPM! I hope you have many uneventful miles in yours. I managed 42mpg on the run back to my hotel, not representative as it was only a 16 mile run, but the portents are good as that was in town traffic with the stop/start disabled.

For anyone interested in 9spd Si4 mpg here is a photo from my trip home this morning. Also attached a photo of what speed sign recognition and lane departure warning system looks like in centre display

And for those wondering what the icon is to the left of the Parking brake icon and outside temperature in the second photo, it is the lane departure warning system is turned on

Yep on but inactive. It turns green when it recognises you are in a lane, then Amber and red as you drift out. The steering wheel also vibrates as you drift out (unless you are actually changing lanes).
