Have to say that in my old volvo I managed 50k miles on one set of pads and the discs were still OK. I know it's comparing two different things but it sounds like there's some sort of brake imbalance or pad misalignment at play, rather than natural wear and tear.
I had a LR tech guy out when mine was failing ages ago and he appeared to rate Taggarts as being pretty good, although I have to say personally when I was looking at buying the evoque they were crap salespeople!

Taggarts are part of the Lookers empire. I heard mixed reports about their two Glasgow outlets - Motherwell good for sales less good on servicing, Maryhill Road ( they just call it their Glasgow City branch as Maryhill isnt the greatest address in Glasgow to be selling From!) I have used for servicing a long time agoand they were pretty good, never dealt with their sales team though other than casual inquiries which were dealt with OK

Yeah they're my 'local' dealer (closer than Motherwell). They seem OK with the servicing but charge a lot compared to other dealerships, and wouldn't come down on price to match Pentland for my first service (couldn't understand that - would've thought they would want the business!).
Shields in Glasgow have also just been taken over by the Lookers Group.
