Junk junk

26K miles, worn disc and pads jammed in carrier, "Sorry Mr Tetstall but thats the wear you should expect".

The final straw, the arrogance of the dealers and the quality of is pile of junk constantly amazes me.

RE: Junk junk

Ive had a problem with excessive noise coming from the corner for months but they just say they cant find anything wrong and that I should expect to have to replace them after 20-30k miles

RE: Junk junk

Maybe the service guy has recently moved from a BMW dealership as I expect that would be a common issue given how they are driven!

RE: Junk junk

You never know, its the attitude that gets me. I always replace my cars at 3 years and in recent years i've had Hondas, Mercs and Audis and they all go back with at least 50K miles and i've never had to replace pads on any. I'm not a heavy breaker as I dont drive like a twat so this is beyond unreasonable.

Pentland simply dont give a rats ass, £195 to replace the pads on 1 side, what a joke.

I need to complain about this and have the car looked at, any advice ?

Brake pads should always be replaced as an axle set. Should it turn out they have only replaced one side your braking will be uneven and possibly dangerous in an emergency stop situation.

I would get it checked quick by a properly qualified motor technician.

It seems some dealers are still living in the bad old Austin Rover days when they could get away with saying "They all do that mate" followed by wiping of nose on overall sleeve.

We have been fortunate that our dealer has always been helpful with the faults we have experienced and those are down to JLR for using cheap materials, slipshod assembly standards and launching a vehicle that has not been fully de-bugged.

RE: Junk junk

Ive not authorised the replacement because I don't believe that it should be down to me on a vehicle that I've been complaining about for months.

The rubbing or high pitched vibration noises have obviously been caused by a problem with the brakes which has caused excessive wear.

RE: Junk junk

Are you still using stratstone Cupar, well Pentland now?

I don't think it's brakes should be goosed with that amount of miles on the clock without there being something amiss.

Get an independent brake specialist to check them out and go armed with this to the dealer.

RE: Junk junk

Didn't know that Stratstone Cupar had been taken over, about time if you ask me but I hope the good ones there are still there if you know what I mean.

Good idea about getting a brake specialist to check, I'll do that and see what happens.

How's the new Freelander, looks a nice bit of kit and I wish I had just bought one of those instead of my EvJoke

RE: Junk junk

Yep all stratstone branches up here have been taken over by the John Clark group.

The Fl2 is good, I always thought my Evoque was rattle free, until I went back to the Fl2. Not as good to look at but the build quality is far superior. I just hope LR don't mess it up with next Freelander.
