I too use the ctek chargers and have a permanent connection. No issues yet. Have only had the low batt warning once after leaving it for 16 days. Overnight charge and all is well...

I have been looking into some ideas keeping the battery working with a solar charger while camping and the like. Found this solar power trickle charger by Goal Zero which connects directly to the battery it seems
http://www.amazon.com/Goal-Zero-14002-Guardian-Controller/dp/B009TPI7GG/ref=sr_1_24?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362044154&sr=1-24

Trickle, recharge and maintain 12 Volt batteries
Small and easy to use
Pair with Goal Zero solar panel for a self-sustaining charging cycle
10 Ampere charge controller
Alligator clips included

Anybody prepared to comment on the likely success of this?

Am going O/S soon and the car will be in snooze mode for 3 weeks. Got myself a charger so hopefully all will be well when I get back (my first time with this scenario).

Used to charge the BMW's with a 1.25 amp automatic trickle charger the BMW dealer gave us. It's basically a Battery Tender unit with the BMW logo stamped on. Works like a charm and since it's so low amperage, won't hurt a thing. Floats after charging so it won't be an issue if left connected long after full charge. LR warns against charging batteries while connected as full size chargers put out large amounts of current and can damage the electrical system under surge conditions. I don't understand why this is such an issue as you can jump start the vehicle through these points anyway. I guess it's just the concern for long term over boosting with no draw.

For both the new RRSport and FFRR Land Rover are now offering a battery conditioner as a dealer supplied optional extra, wonder if the same one will work for Evoque?

One suggestion made by other car dealers is always to lock car when leaving it, even secured in garage. It helps to shut down all the electronics faster and reduces battery drain. Whether it works or not I don't know but I did get used to doing it and now with the Evoque, it folds the mirrors so I like to do it anyway.

I had this on my 2012 Evoque on the first week of ownership. I knew about this "fault" from reading this forum before I bought it.

I charged the battery (2 hours to fully charged) in the evening. Next day the warning noticed flicked up and went off very quickly (could have been the computer re-setting). Went on a long weekend break and did around 380 miles, haven't had the warning since (3 weeks on now).
Dealer said that it had probably drained the battery a bit when in the showroom. They noted it and told me to book it in if it returns.

I always double lock mine also.

From TOPIX this just looks like an plug-in kit for a charger, no mention of the charger itself and at £107 + VAT its a bit expensive for a plug and a couple of lengths of wire but then it is a LR part!!
