RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - XFullFatTim - 16-04-2012 04:22pm Laziness............................. I like my automatics to do the gear changing for me! Also most of my journeys I'm cruising at 60 in 6th anyway for 16 miles into town RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - gw76 - 16-04-2012 11:22pm i will try it... RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - lngrn36 - 16-04-2012 11:33pm I have the "petrol" engine and posted some time back that I don't see a decrease in mpg while driving in sport mode. Also most of my journeys I'm cruising at 60 in 6th anyway for 16 miles into town I am missing something here, excuse my ignorance. In S mode I do nothing differently to D. I never use the paddle shifts, just let the gearbox do the work. RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - Mudi1 - 17-04-2012 08:31am Surely dynamic mode is sports-plus an extra something! If so, it totally makes sense that sports is better than dynamic mode for fuel consumption. RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - timslim - 17-04-2012 08:38am Sports mode also holds the gear longer, giving better response and performance, and (I think), will not go into 6th gear. Dynamic mode does not do this. Both dynamic and sports will tighten up the suspension/steering. I cannot see how sports mode will ever deliver better fuel economy on the basis of the change in gearing, but, if by some miracle it does thats fantastic - will stick mine is 'S' all the time... RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - XFullFatTim - 17-04-2012 09:29am If I drive in S then the gears will not shift up automatically until the revs hit the rev limiter unless I pull the paddle to make it shift.................... it doesn't sound very good for the diesel and certainly isn't good for fuel economy RE: Sport Mode returns better MPG?? - andrey1302 - 17-04-2012 02:40pm Maybe this is due to the fact that you reach your desired speed faster?
