Noise With Steering - stef.c - 18-04-2012 08:20pm Any one else suffer a noise like a load creak or groan when your steering goes to full lock (for example when reversing) then you turn the wheel the wheel the other way to take off? Seems to happen to me. Not sure if it will go in time as its only been driven half a dozen times... RE: Noise When Steering Change - PhilSkill - 18-04-2012 08:35pm No idea if it has anything to do with your issue but there has been mention of some Evoques that required the steering rack bolts loosening and re-tightening to re-settle the rack into position. Have a look at these http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Uprated-steering-rack?highlight=steering+problems http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Steering-problem-update?highlight=steering+problems RE: Noise When Steering Change - Donny Dog - 18-04-2012 10:15pm (18-04-2012 08:35pm)PhilSkill Wrote: No idea if it has anything to do with your issue but there has been mention of some Evoques that required the steering rack bolts loosening and re-tightening to re-settle the rack into position. I occasionally get a creak (like it just needs lubricating) but have had no steering problems whatsoever (stiff steering, not self-centering, etc.). Yeah no steering problems per se. Just the creak noise when the steering is being swung back round. Doesn't always happen. Not sure if this is 'normal'? (Mine seems to have done it less, lately, so yours might ease off as well). Wonder if the oil hasn't quite reached the areas needed to lubricate properly yet which is causing this? RE: Noise With Steering - XFullFatTim - 19-04-2012 10:12am What oil? The Evoque steering system is all electric! Is the noise coming from the top or bottom of the steering column, it could be that the cladding on the steering column is rubbing on the steering wheel trim at full lock, in which case a little silicone lubricant spray between the top of the column trim and the steering wheel will cure it until you can get the car into the service bay to have the trim realigned . RE: Noise With Steering - Barneyridge - 19-04-2012 12:43pm Notice you have 20 inch, with 19 inch I do not have any issue, no noise or creak sound RE: Noise With Steering - stef.c - 19-04-2012 01:09pm (19-04-2012 10:12am)XFullFatTim Wrote: What oil? Ermmm yeah I knew that... No I know its electric. Bot not too sure what happens under the hood after that It is coming from the base from the sounds of things. Perhaps its the wheels? RE: Noise With Steering - CSJ - 19-04-2012 01:55pm I have also noticed this in all 4 Evoques I have driven, maybe incorrectly I thought it was just a characteristic of the car. Even had it looked at by the dealer on one car and it came back exactly the same. |
