Noise With Steering

Any one else suffer a noise like a load creak or groan when your steering goes to full lock (for example when reversing) then you turn the wheel the wheel the other way to take off? Seems to happen to me. Not sure if it will go in time as its only been driven half a dozen times...

Arrived: Range Rover Evoque Prestige SD4 5 door in Fuji White & Vibe Interior. Extras: Lux Pack, Adaptive Dynamics, Rear Entertainment, 20" Style 6 Wheels, Ebony Headlining, Adaptive Xenon, Hi Beam Asssist, Privacy Glass, Homelink, Heated Steering.

RE: Noise When Steering Change

No idea if it has anything to do with your issue but there has been mention of some Evoques that required the steering rack bolts loosening and re-tightening to re-settle the rack into position.

Have a look at these

I occasionally get a creak (like it just needs lubricating) but have had no steering problems whatsoever (stiff steering, not self-centering, etc.).

Yeah no steering problems per se. Just the creak noise when the steering is being swung back round. Doesn't always happen. Not sure if this is 'normal'?

I wouldn't say it was normal, but nothing to worry about. It if persists, raise it with the dealer next time you have a service. (Mine seems to have done it less, lately, so yours might ease off as well).

Wonder if the oil hasn't quite reached the areas needed to lubricate properly yet which is causing this?

RE: Noise With Steering

What oil? The Evoque steering system is all electric! Is the noise coming from the top or bottom of the steering column, it could be that the cladding on the steering column is rubbing on the steering wheel trim at full lock, in which case a little silicone lubricant spray between the top of the column trim and the steering wheel will cure it until you can get the car into the service bay to have the trim realigned .

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

It is coming from the base from the sounds of things. Perhaps its the wheels?
