£600 for me with Admiral. It was cheaper for me to insure the £45000 than it was for a £1000 BMW 328ci sports coupe. Try to work that one out...... Forgot to state that I wasn't born in the UK, the premium went up by £30...., even though I have been here for over 25 years.... Try the comparison sites first.... Admiral quote was cheaper than their own websites or quotes over the phone !!!

because 1k or 45k is nothing compared to a 3rd party claim you could get, the cost of your car is a very small amount in the overall insurance cost.

Because someone who has just spent £45k on a brand new car is likely to be much more careful than someone who drives a 2.8 litre coupe worth a grand.

It's really not that hard to figure out.

This is what I have allways been lead to believe too but was told tday on the phone that the high costs were due to the high value of the vehicle & the fact that it was new!

I am of the oppinion that the whole insurance industry is one total sham & at least D**K Turpin wore a mask. Evil Twisted Evil

when i shifted my insurance from a scirocco worth 16k to a mondeo worth £600 last year it went up. I wa told it was because i was unfamiliar with the car! what utter crap.
37. Full No Claims. Fully Comp with protected no claims and business use. £400 per annum with Admiral multi car.
For those who are old enough, have you tried SAGA's offers?

I challenged them to beat the two policies I currently have with Royal and Sun Alliance for the Evoque and the Defender. After 2 weeks they got back to me and asked me to send them copies of my policy documents as they couldn't get anywhere near the premiums I am paying and they wanted proof that I wasn't spinning them a yarn!
The sticking points were :-
a) Unlimited continental use,
b) £5000 audio/video equipment cover,
c) unlimited off road use
d) off road recovery
e) up to 4 claims a year for broken glass and also cover of the Panoramic sunroof.
f) All repairs to be carried out by a Land Rover approved repairer
e) Excess of £100

My annual milage is restricted to 12000 miles year on the Evoque and 5000 a year on the Defender
So much for "We guarantee to beat any premium you might pay!" Their underwriters were unable to provide similar cover. It has stopped all the junk mail I was getting from them though.

The Valeter - have you tried the specialist Land Rover brokers like Adrian Flux or NFU?
How old do you have to be to use Saga? I got quotes from Adrian Flux & NFU and found them really expensive even with a discount from NFU cos we have house insurance with them it was still over double what I am paying with LV. I paid £371 protected with LV - 46yrs, full no claims, 15000 miles per year, rural area, no business cover though, and not sure if the panoramic roof is covered or not!
Saga knows when you are old enough and starts to deluge you with junk mail in time for your 50th birthday!
I have never tried Adrian Flux and NFU didn't return my calls.
