second evoque

just ordered my second evoque, waitomo grey se tech. never had any problems with the first one, looked around for something better but nothing I liked for the same price. in my opinion there isn't anything better looking in its class. ive never bought the same car twice before so it must be good Cool

I've been looking round as well and have come to the same conclusion. Can't see anything better around. Two years + trouble free motoring and only annoyed by the small boot. Can't decide whether to hang on to this one for a few years as it works well and I have a free five year servicing plan, or go for a new one. Anyone had one for more than four years and did the later years give many problems?

Had my MY11 for 4 1/2 years now, low-ish mileage, but no problems so far after the initial Warranty work for rattles etc. (but wish I could have had the service plan)

I dont understand why you guys are so into having the car serviced at the dealer?
Arnt you allowed to service the car where you want and still retain the warranty?

Yes, we are allowed to service the car ourselves and still maintain the warranty but it affects the resale/trade-in value when it's time to change it. Generally, buyers will pay more for a car who's owner has paid through the nose for the the engine oil and filter, brakes and essential safety components checked, changed and tested by a 17 year old, ham-fisted, trainee motor mechanic as long as they get that all-important dealer stamp in the service record book!

The other reason I see for buying from LR and servicing through LR whilst under warranty is should there be a major failure out of warranty LR are possibly (depending on circumstances etc) going to be sympathetic with a goodwill gesture.

(I assume LR adopt this policy - I know other manufacturers do)

IIRC it is one of the good thing to come out of Brussels/ EU in that you acn take your car to any garage and have it serviced PROVIDED the garage carrying out the work uses makers genuine parts and recommended oils etc. And that is where the issue still lies as most car makers will tell you that the car hasn't been maintained to their requirements because many nonfranchised service outlets cannot carry out software upgrades neither do they have access to all the technical bulletins etc that franchised or even independent specialist garages have access to. TBH I wouldn't let my village garage near even my 20 years old Defender as their staff are mostly Volvo trained even though the owner owns an old Defender himself. A neighbour brought a Freelander from off the village garage forecourt, but he had the sense to get the bloke to take the Freebie into the local LR dealer to have all the recall, TSB's and other factory ordered work done before he would part with his money. The car turned out to an excellent buy and ran for many miles fault free................ then he had to scrap it because somebody drove into the side of it while it was parked on the street and it had to be written off, he was heartbroken!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Any idea on what the value of the 5 year service plan is? Fortunately, mine is transferable too. Don't want to rub it in but I was surprised that it seems to cover all the consumables as well.

RE: second evoque

Value of the plan based on what I have had to pay for servicing each year must be near £1700, based on 5 annual services.

Note: it doesn't include brake fluid and clutch fluid changes which are extra to the service plan.
