scuffed door

driving to work this morning, some numpty forced through a gap and caused a huge bottleneck on a single lane road. I squeezed through (couldn't go back because of a huge line of cars behind) but heard a rubbing noise, got out further down the road and noticed a scuff on the driver's door and front wheel arch.

Gutted, she's only 3 months old.

If you are lucky it might only be the composite parts that are cheap and easy to replace. IIRC the front wing and lower door aren't metal they are composite. Feel for you though it's never nice to bash your motor no matter if it is 3 months or 3 years old. I just got told off by a neighbour for trimming back the wild rose bush on our approach lane because it was rubbing down the side of the car when there was a car parked outside the house opposite it reducing the road width. Too late now the dog rose is now only half the bush it was!

Have noticed that shrubs (esp roses) can scratch the soft black plastic on the mirrors!

Upsetting wd, Can you polish it out, or is it too deep?

Too deep I suspect, certainly down to the primer.

Ah, sorry to hear your news - I get gutted over a slight stone chip!

Someone scratched my car's front nearside wheel arch (10cm down to primer) and it cost me £200 all in to get it resprayed by a smart repair specialist (at their premises). Very annoying but the repair is excellent and matches the surrounding paintwork 100%. It was relatively painless, I dropped the car off at 9am and collected it at 5pm.

Good news, took it to my local body shop this evening and the guy polished it out there and then. Still scuffed on the wheel arch trim, so I guess I'll have to get a new one of those.

Total cost £10

so relieved!
