Winter preparation for the Evoque

Well its that time of year again when I start breaking out he winter kit for the long dark winter miles ahead.

So the winter prep for th RR this year will be limited to :

1. Screenwash good to -20C
2. Fold up snow shovel
3. De icer & scraper
4. Space blanket, warm coat, water & small amount of energy food
5. Tow rope

As standard I carry, Torch, High Viz jacket, Boots , Warning Tringle

This winter the only thing I am not fitting is winter tyres, I really hope the terrain response system is upto the job ! for crossing the penines at 4am in deep winter

How are other people preparing ?

You sound far more organised than me, so far I have prepared for the winter only by complaining about the cold progressively more!

I probably should fit some winter tyres though, they really do make a world of difference. I have found that they have dropped the MPG of other cars I've owned when driving on dry tarmac. They are probably worth it for the difference in grip though.

Snow and Ice scrapper? Don't attack your front or rear screens with an ice scraper use the heated screens, better to use a soft brush to get snow off the car.

Your car is designed with work in snow with the OEM tyres so you have given the TR a better chance with the winter tyres.

One suggestion is to replace the carpet mats with high surround rubber mats and it's still useful to carry some old mats in the boot to give "aid" to all those BMW 3series people who 99.999999% of the time snear at you thinking they are of a superior race and help them get moving, much nicer than pushing them!

I also add a can of spray de-icer. One thing I found last time we had very low temperatures was that the door seals froze to the car........... not sure how to stop it but something like a quick coating of silicon grease or surfboard wax might help avoid it

Interesting email from LR Allegiance scheme today. They're now recommending winter tyres for temperatures below 7 degrees. First time I've seen this being pushed by LR.

I got the same email today. No mention of cost or special discounts though

Heated windscreen! Chance would be a fine thing, my Evoque is Range Rovers answer to the Defender

No heated windscreen
No heated steering wheel
No sat nav
No spare tyre

I always try to avoid the scraper but at the moment I have run out of de-icer. The space under the boot floor is full of the usual stuff, hi-viz, tow rope, first aid kit, jackets etc.
I've only had the 20" wheels for a few weeks so have no idea how well they will cope should winter turn nasty.

I have had my stock of winter strength washer additive and spray de-icer since Halfords big winter stock stock clear-out last May when they were selling off 2 for price of 1, have about 20 litres of winter strength screen cleaner and half a dozen spray cans all at less than last winter's price - it's enough for my two cars for a winter if I am at home. I'm getting to know meanness after 48 years in Scotland.........

Got plenty of winter screen wash, I'm sure I should have some de-icer in the shed as I also bought it at a reduced price. Wish I had went with the heated steering wheel though, I had it on my spec and for some reason I cancelled it.

Make sure you order it for the next Evqoue then, now I'll be having that and the motorised tailgate as options on any car I buy in the future
