Not at all, but remember here in Australia our ambient outside temp is about 15 degrees at the moment, it is winter.

RE: Ventilation System

I did an little experiment yesterday on the M6 toll. Cruise on at 70
Selecete instant consumprion on the trip screen
Aircon on
Reading fluctuated between 34 & 42 for about a mile
Aircon off
No difference
Outside temp was about 20 and internal temp set at 22

Put aircon on again and turned right down to LO setting
Reading fluctuated between 32 & 44

I know that there must be a difference but to me its not enough to keep having to worry whether it should be on or off
I leave it on and it does a good job of maintaining my required settings.

RE: Ventilation System

Modern air-con systems in cars are designed to put minimal load on the engine/ alternator so you shouldn't notice any difference. What I have learned from being on other forums for FFRR and RRS is that people forget that the climate control (because it isn't just air-con) is also a de-humidifier and in these days of sophisticated electronics systems it is better to run the climate control all the time to keep things like hifi systems and nav/phone systems condensation free during wet/ damp/ humid weather and prolong their life - take a look over on the FFRR forum and see how many problems people have with systems because they didn't run the climate contra all the time.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
