Tyre Pressures

Yes, especially with Diesel engined cars the axle weights differ and the inflation will be different. Road cars generally have their tyre pressures set to produce the most even contact patch and wear rate rather than best performance or cornering grip. So more weight means higher inflation to keep the tread area flat.

Thanks to XFullFatTim finding the new 2014 menu item with numerical tire pressure data, I checked yesterday, and the fronts AND rears were both at 38 psi (not 38/32 as the manual suggests for the 19 inch wheels).

So what *is* the primary effect of rears being above spec in this instance?

Less tyre wear and a harder ride!

Wear in the centre of the tyre will be greater then the rest.
