Tyre Pressures

Been a bit slow to check my tyre pressure after picking up my new Evoque 3000 miles ago! I was surprised on checking my 20 inch tyres today to find front were 36psi and rear were 37psi. Thus it appears the rears were factory set or dealer check set at 37. My manual says they should be 32! Quite a difference which surprised me. Can anyone set my mind at rest and confirm the rears should be 32?

On the happy side the oil check was midway between max and min so minimal oil consumption in 3000 miles which impressed me for a Diesel engine.

RE: Tyre Pressures

Look at the chart on the drivers B pillar below the door latch. The info you require is there. Or you could RTFM Very Happy

RE: Tyre Pressures

Hi Good shot, I checked my 20" last week and yes, the fronts should be 2.5 bar (36psi) and the rears 2.2 bar (32psi), but as speary says check the chart as there might be a higher figure for the rears recommended for highs speeds/higher loads.

RE: Tyre Pressures

also the manual suggests changing pressures according to ambient temp, first car I've had which suggested that!

RE: Tyre Pressures

Thanks all. Yes I had checked the manual and door pillar. My surprise was that the rears had left the dealers or factory at 37 psi so I had to deflate them 5 psi! I was thinking the factory / dealer setting must be correct and I had miss read the manual / door pillar.

So I guess the message is check your pressures on delivery otherwise like me you could go 3000 miles on the wrong pressures.Shocked

RE: Tyre Pressures

Surely the onus is on the owners to check the tyres themselves ? For some here 3000 miles is only a fortnight's motoring for others it is a year's!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Only done 14k in 27 months but tyres and oil are checked every week.

If it helps I have the attached chart on my workshop notice board, saves looking in the book or trying to read the small print on the 'B' post (my 19" wheels are for winter use).

Hi,Very interesting and a good idea.

I note that the 18inch wheels on Pirelli Scorpion Verdi all seasons tyres quote only a single tyre pressure for front and rear respectively with no increase when 4/5 occupants or when towing etc.,

They quote a higher PSI for front, which presumably is to accommodate engine/gearbox weight.

Is this correct as this is the first time that I have used only one set of tyre pressures when loaded and towing etc.,

I checked my tyre pressures the day after delivery, Both front and rear had been over inflated by 10psi.
Surely before they send the car out this should be checked, or perhaps they are over inflated to give better fuel economy on the way home or even for those that don't check in a years time you have some strange wear on the tyres at service time and they can screw you for the new tyres.

Perhaps a little cynical but i would have thought that from delivery the pressures should be correct.
