The assistant in the parts department certainly was aware that Evoque has a weird oil spec and advised me that the same oil is now the standard recommended oil for all post 2010MY RRS and Disco4's with the SD4 engine. It isn't cheap oil though at £15.30 a litre................
So if you live in Central Scotland and are close to the M8 or M9 then Morrison's Land Rover at Bannockburn (just off J9 of the M9) has the right oil in stock.

It is rare that we can buy something in Surrey cheaper, I only paid £10.23 for my C1 spec Castrol from my dealer, with a bit of discount though Whistle

RE: Top Up Oil

If I had gone to the supplying dealer Claud all discounts would have been wiped out by the fuel cost of a 900 mile round trip!

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Top Up Oil

3200 miles and it needs it's first full litre. A bit surprising as I've never had a car that uses oil at anywhere near this rate!

Am hoping it is because the engine's still tight and things will eventually settle down?

Was £14.92 for the litre od CE professional. He did know it was the DPF specific oil but I'm appreciative of this thread so I could act all knowledgeable about it!

RE: Top Up Oil

Has anyone found what the difference between C1 and C2 oils actually is? The ACEA specification for both categories is almost word-for-word identical, and they both appear to be suitable for the same type of vehicle.

Quote from 'ACEA European Oil Sequences':

"C1 Stable, stay-in-grade oil intended for use as catalyst compatible oil in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance car and light van diesel and gasoline engines requiring low friction, low viscosity, low SAPS oils with a minimum HTHS viscosity of 2.9 mPa.s. These oils will increase the DPF and TWC life and maintain the vehicles fuel economy.
Warning: these oils have the lowest SAPS limits and are unsuitable for use in some engines. Consult owner manual or handbook if in doubt.
C2 Stable, stay-in-grade oil intended for use as catalyst compatible oil in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance car and light van diesel and gasoline engines designed to be capable of using low friction, low viscosity oils with a minimum HTHS viscosity of 2.9mPa.s. These oils will increase the DPF and TWC life and maintain the vehicles fuel economy.
Warning: these oils are unsuitable for use in some engines. Consult owner manual or handbook if in doubt".
