Supaguard!

After reading bad reviews about supaguard from dealers I thought it wasn't worth having done.Because it was free I had it done anyway.I am amazed at the results, when I got the car it almost looked wet it was that shiney. After driving around yesterday in the rain when I got home the car looked quite dirty, went to work this morning and the rain had washed the car for me!
Also I noticed they had spilt a litle dribble on the windscreen,it must be long lasting because I can't get it off.

5 door Pure sd4 Tech Fuji with black roof, tinted windows, ebony seats, style 4 alloys, xenons, fogs, black grille.
Arrived 29/03/2012.

RE: Supaguard!

Supaguard isn't that bad a product - -its just the fact that most dealers slap it on with very little care and overcharge for it.

It's old 'technology' too, ok if you get it free but not one to pay for.

RE: Supaguard!

Yep, I've been impressed with the system that my dealer applied too, it wasn't Supaguard but GardX and the effect is the same as you have noticed. I gave the car a wash with their own carwash liquid that came with the car last week and that restored the gleam and beading that was starting to wear-off after 6 months of only being pressure washed.
My side windows were also treated with the gardX glass treatment and that has proved to be very hard wearing and water and dirt just don't stick to the glass so I didn't bother with doing them again with the top-up.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Supaguard!

also the supaguard will most likely wash off after a few goes with the power washer

I have had SupaGard applied to all of my cars for the last 5 years, it's a great product and come rain, hail or sunshine it has always performed faultlessly. My cars are all professionally valeted weekly and my guy uses a power washer which along with Supagard's shampoo, a couple of buckets and sponges is all that is needed to remove grime, baked on bugs easily!

Great product, highly recommend it and if wanted you can apply swisswax or another wax/polish on top of it without the need to strip it off.

Quit work - Get some stuff - Go somewhere - Have some fun

Nothing wrong with old technology. There is only so much you can put in a standard wax or polymer sealant from one year to the next.
We put petrol in our cars - that is very old technology!

To be honest as will most waxes if a truck wash or similar is used. You must wash your car with a proper car shampoo or shampoo with wax content.

I have no real dealings with Supagaurd but I do apply Diamondbrite & Autoglym Lifeshine which in the great scheme of things all these are very similar but as with everything are only as good as the person who applies it.

I would be very sceptible if many or if any of the "Detailing" waxes are much different in terms of longevity. I use Autoglym Hi-Definition Wax which I find very durable at a lot less than some of the so called detail waxes!

RE: Supaguard!

I have supaguard on two cars as part of the deal and from these experiences I would say its all about how it's applied.
On the Audi it lasted about 4 months and was fine.
On the 3 series it literally came off in clumps leaving a patchy mess that had to be tackled with a clay bar.

God only knows what they did to that car then as it is a liquid application applied in a very similar way to a liquid wax. I would have taken it back to the dealer & told them to pay for a proper valeter to rectify it!

I was offered the Autoglym option from the dealer for about £500, I thought this was a bit steep, especially for a 6 months last. It does however offer a lifetime cover for the paint finish to stay true, providing you keep up the maintenance with the kit they provide. Is this a worth while option Valeter? You of all would know.

Ps: I have an MGF 11years old, used daily, BR Green metallic paint, still, I am told by others, looks like a brand new car using Murs/Murwax? The car does have a good finish after application and I do use it after every wash.
