Starter button removal

Hi everybody,

I am "carbon fibre" wrapping the aluminium dash strip on my pure to cut down the glare it reflects in the mornings and evenings.

I have finished the passenger side and am pleased with the result. I now need to do the short section on the driver's side with the starter button in the middle. To get a neat finish I need to remove the starter switch, lay the film, and refit the switch.

Can anyone advise me whether the switch can be prised out without damage? I cannot see any way to get at the back of the switch.

Hi jph, not seen anything regarding this, but I'd look at whether the whole dash panel section below the starter comes off first (the long panel including the LCD Screen), there are youtube videos of this, and then it may be accessible from the rear, or allow the trim panel to come off with the switch in.

Something like this may give you a clue

I had already seen this video. I started by removing the panel above the steering column as shown in the video, but access to the back of the switch was still blocked.
Put it back together and gave up before I broke something.

Ok had another go today

The starter panel is held in by two torx screws


Once removed the starter switch can be removed by squeezing three metal clips


The passenger dashboard is secured by four torx screws

The silver vent switch panel lifts from the bottom to allow the dash and starter panels to be removed and replaced

I'm not a great fan of carbon fibre trimming but it looks very nice with your interior colour scheme - looks like you have Expresso and Latte on the dash or is it just the colour rendition?

Thanks! I think the secret with carbon fibre is 'less is more'

Colour is called Expresso and Almond here in Australia.
Black leather can get a bit too hot here.
