Agree with you 100%, currently have a Disco 3 which I get 30mpg on mixed journey and 24mpg on short journeys. These figures are bang on Landrovers figures for this car, so will post what I get in the new car when it arrives, hopefully next couple of weeks. If it doesn't do what they have been bragging I also will take it up with them.

RE: Real world mpg

I wonder how much adaptive dynamics cost in terms of fuel economy. They are on all the time and probably use quite a lot of current, no?

RE: Real world mpg

Have had my Dynamic SD4 10 days and so far done 695 miles.

At first fill up I put 53.25 ltrs into the car having done 376 miles. Tha car was showing an av speed of 21 mph, with a combination of London and motorway driving. This comes out at 32.1 mpg (11.4Km per litre). Assuming my maths is right ( no doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong).

Second visit to garage I filled up with 44 litres having done a further 319 miles, av speed 22mph, again mixture of London and motorway. This comes out at 32.9 mpg (11.7Km per litre).

I have just been driving normally although I have not pushed the speedo to high as always break my cars in for the first 1500 miles, that said I would describe my driving as normal and certainly not conservative or trying to save fuel.

The trip computer on the car is also showing my consumption at 32 mpg, so seems pretty accurate to the actual manually calculated consumption.

Whilst I agree that it is some way off the "official" figures it is better than 3 TTs I have owned and an SLK, where I found the "official" figures even more out of reality than with the Evoque. Hopefully it will get better but I think it probably won't. Not sure if this proves anything other than to demonstrate that the trip computer looks quite accurate but thought I would give some figures on real world driving when new.

I also drove an SI4 for a month before my SD4 arrived, I will do a more detailed comparison of the 2 after a little longer with the SD4 but what I will say is that the SD4 is noticeably less thirsty ( as one would expect), in that I was having to fill the petrol up more frequently. I was genuinely shocked at how much juice the petrol was drinking and so far at least I am happy with the diesel choice. I fully accept that the petrol had more punch off the line but that really was its only better feature for me, the SD4 is better for me on the motorway although the compromise is the diesel "tractor" noise on tickover. This is the first diesel I have owned so will give it a it longer before I come to a definitive view. Happy motoring everyone!

RE: Real world mpg

Be interesting to see how the 2wd compares with mpg, give it a chance though, and calculate the mpg properly if you can, dont just use the trip as its a good guide, but mines been a bit out.
