RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

Re the Swedish test, clearly 4x4 ability of any description was not a factor. I disagree re quality as it is a level above my previous D4 and appears to me to be at least as good as the RRS.

The technology in the Evoque - engine aside - is better in my opinion and it is more fun to drive than the other two.

The only area where I would have the X1 beat the Evoque is engine - BMW's engines are superb whereas the engines we have are very average.

The Q3 is well built but a bland alternative.

The Evoque as an overall package blows the other two away Smile
Of course I would say that given I discounted the opposition.

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

I've recently started selling these and everytime I mention a list of some of the awards its won it impresses a lot of customers, more than anything the fact that Jeremy Clarkson made it his car of the year. An amazing car and at the right price, well done Land Rover.

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

This whole thing going round that the Evoque is expensive doesn't really stack up imo. I did a lot of research, as I'm sure we all did, and specced up equivalent cars on the on line configurators. The Q3, to the closest spec I could get to the Evoque I've ordered, came out more expensive. In addition to this, you can't get a diesel 4WD auto Q3, only petrol, no heated screen available....and just look at the thing!!! And quite frankly the X1 is probably one of the ugliest "SUVs" to ever have graced our roads, and BMWs obsession with run flat tyres makes it useless in bad conditions anyway. The price argument, again, hardly holds any water
The combination of on road and off road capabilities, looks and it's overall ambiance, puts the Evoque well ahead of the Q3 and X1. Ok, there are issues with the perceived economy, but I will be interested to see what sort of figures are being posted when people have got a few more miles on their cars and the weather warms up a bit.

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

This has been a problem that all Land Rover products have suffered from - when you try to equalise the spec of the cars the LR products nearly always work out as a complete spec at a lower price - even in more basic spec vehicles LR don't really "want" for anything, the options are generally nice to have extras as opposed to things that you really need to spec to have a civilised lifestyle when driving.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

This is the exact prob i had when looking at a Q5, if i were to choose a 2.0 tdi (140bhp) with no options it is £30k, to spect to same level as a pure close to 35k and the same as the dynamic i have ordered over £42k which is £5k more, and now seeing an Evoque and Q5 next to each other they are more closely related size wise than to the Q3.

In fairness Evoque should be compared against Q5 and X3, not their smaller offshoots.

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

If that's the case, then the price/spec differential is even bigger. And the X3 still has %*$!@ run flat tyres And still neither has the on/off road abilities or the looks of the Evoque. The delivery times for the X3 are worse than the Evoque as wellWink

RE: Range Rover Evoque - List of Awards

Remember regarding price this was for the Swedish market. a well specced Evoque do cost like a X5 or Q7 over here. Its easy to get into 600-700000 SEK level with the Evoque. Same as a well specced X5 or Q7 over here. The cheapest SUVs here would be the XC60 and the XC90. So remember in the UK the price might not be the issue for the Evoque. In Sweden it is.
I did read the test and agree on most of the stuff in the Swedish test. I would go for the Evoque anyway as I like the looks the most. I personally don't like the looks of the Q3 or the X1. I have not even considered them as options for myself. And I would skip the diesel engine as it seems pretty lousy in mileage and power. Would go for the gasoline Evoque. So if you ask me my choice is still the Evoque but changed my mind regarding what engine to opt for. The test is still fair in almost all parts and ratings.

Order of Evoque Dynamic cancelled due to delays and no information on delivery date. Wish you all the best of luck and hope you will receive your cars soon. Its a lovely car! Many thanks for all great answers and feedback on this forum! Take care! Cheers! /Hybris
