Radar Detector Hardwire?

Has anyone had any luck hardwiring a radar detector in their Evoque? I have the Escort 9500ix that was hardwired in my Infiniti and am anxious to try it out in my new Evoque. I am worried about the heated windshield interfering with the radar/GPS but won't know for sure until I give it a try.

I just use the Road Angel app on my iphone which is mounted on the dash. It works fine but of course only alerts via the speakers if I am listening to music etc on the iphone as opposed to any other sources. GPS is fine through the heated screen but obviously I have no radar detector

This may be a bit overdue. Just picked up a 2012 a few weeks ago, and had my 9500ix (plus laser shifters) removed from my old car and hardwired in the Evoque. Much to my dismay, the GPS doesn't connect.

Super frustrating and I'm not sure what my options are now. I also don't understand why the glass would mess up the inbound signal.

Did you ever get yours installed? And did you find a work around the GPS issue?

Nope - I never got mine to work and I really miss it. Ended up selling my 9500ix on eBay. Let me know if you figure anything out. I debated removing the heated windshield which I doubt I'll ever use, but decided against that.

If you have solar glass I believe that the GPS signal cant get through. You could put an external gps reciever by the clear bit of glass by the mirror

Where do you put your iphone on the dash as when I tried I couldn't get mine to pick up GPS?

I was able to hardwire the 9500ix to the fuse panel behind the glove box. Called Escort; you will lose the GPS function because the cutout in the window is too small. The radar detector will still work. The other option is to buy a remote detector-but that is expensive.

I have the Road Angel pro connected, with the laser alert detector mounted on the dash and this works fine.

The UV reflective treatment on the front screen appears to cut out portal satnav signals totally, unlike the heated front screen which doesn't seem to be so much a block to signals. I think in the USA all Evoques have the solar / uv reflective glass.
