Puncture Nightmare averted

Woke up this morning to a flat. Could see there was a nail in the tyre and so was very very reluctant to use the sealant and ruin the tyre when I was sure it could be repaired.

Phone LR Assist. Excellent service. The chap arrived within the hour.

The important point to note was that he used "slime" as opposed to the sealant that arrives with the car to do a temporary fix. Benefits of slime are:

- it is cheaper. £5 a tub rather than £45
- it is water based so you can simply wash it out and get a permanent fix. Kwik Fit did this for me, and the assist chap even gave me a signed form that stated it was water based and could be repaired to avoid any silly games at Kwik Fit.
- you can go up to 500 miles on it, more than the standard LR issue
- you can go up to 65mph on it, more than the standard LR issue

This left me wondering one question. Why do LR not issue "slime"?????

Top tip would be get some slime as replacement for the LR standard issue, you will need a valve remover as well but seems to me to be much much better solution.

Sounds interesting - do you have a brand name for the "slime"?

Just a heads up to say that the 473ml bottle of slime that I have says that it is for std car tyres. It suggests that a 4x4 tyre will need 1.5 to 2 bottles.

RE: Puncture Nightmare averted

Thanks for the heads-up on this product. Have to say it would never have crossed my mind to call out LR Assistance for something as straightforward as a puncture. Leaving aside the fact I have a spare wheel, are they also available to refill the windscreen washer bottle when it runs dry?

Mark

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR
