RE: Privacy Glass

I was asked yesterday if the privacy glass was "one way" glass as well as being tinted. The question arose because the questioner was outside the car looking into the rear to see who was sitting there and couldn't see in at all, yet the glass allows very clear outward vision and from the inside doesn't appear to be so heavily tinted.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Privacy Glass

Ill be lightly tinting mine on the front, i know its ilegal but id just pay the 60 quid fine it i were stopped. I think the back may be a little more as standard than 20%, id recon 25-30% as it does seem very dark.

You need to think about potential consequences if in low light you knock off a cyclist, biker, young child you leave yourself wide open driving an illegal and uninsured car.

Police now fine and issue a correction notice logging your car details and giving you 7 days to resolve and report for inspection. If you don't then fine + points + potential confiscation possible.

Our local specialist is busier these days taking front tints off than fitting them.

RE: Privacy Glass

I here you and do fully appreciate that i always have had and always will be very carefull of potential hazards like as you mention which is why id only ever fit a very light smoke tint and nothing ever limo black style. I would hate to hit cyclist or other especially if it were from lack of vision out of the car

Without having a full on debate on it i personally dont see why they made it ilegal to have light tints on the front. I was pulled uplast year towing a trailer and the police lady who stopped me came up to my car with the darkest sun glasses on you can get to speak with me.
Surley i could see far more out of a lightly tinted front "side" car window than she could with her very dark almost black sun glasses on, yet glasses are not ilegal to wear which i think is wrong Sad
At least i can see clearly through clear glass when driving forward without glasses on, yet she is driving always with smoked vision from the glasses she has on and i think its wrong.
