Paint treatment- is it worth it?

Do not under any circumstances pay hundreds for this paint treatment. I had it once and it was a complete waste of time. When my wife bought a new car earlier this year the dealer pestered us night and day to take it. Presumably they get a nice fat bonus for flogging it.

Does anyone have any opinions about or experience with this stuff. I am thinking about doing my hood and front facia any thoughts?

Do you mean the protective film rather than the paint treatment?

A wrap or protection film can be very good if it's done by a specialist.

I had a Defender done and after two years and 57,000 miles it was taken off. I offroaded it too.
No damage to the paint at all and when it was sold the vehicle stil looked brand new despite several marks on the wrap from close encounters with foilage.

If you want a colour change, wrap don't spray.
It'll probably cost about 2k or so. Cheaper and protects the car. A respray will still get stone chips.

A cheaper option is to go with a stonechip protection film. The film is template cut to match the profiles of the actual car model. It is generally just applied to the vunerable areas of the car, i.e. front bumper, door mirrors and leading edge of bonnet and front wings.
It's supposed to be very effective but I haven't seen any costs for it, has to be a hell of a lot cheaper than a full wrap though.

I have seen cars that have had the most likely areas for stone chip done with clear film. After a few washes you can see the edge of the film where it stops and the unprotected panel starts, it is especially noticable on silver, white and black cars. Better to go for a complete clear or coloured wrap where entire panels get covered. Some of the chipguard coverings do cover complete panels - these are the more expensive less DIY "Halfords" style systems professionally applied

That's why I have always avoided it in the past. To me it's the same as leaving the plastic covering on a new sofa, it doesn't look as good but it protects it until it's time to sell it on, it's then removed and the new owner gets all the benefit! Could be worse though, remember the car bra's that were popular (in the states especially) at one time?

I called my dealer and told him I no longer wanted the supaguard treatment. He asked me why and told me very few don't opt for it. Plus they will give me £200 back if I ever trade it back in. I asked for the £200 up front now so that when I trade it in they won't need to pay me it. They refused!?!? Surprise surprise.

I just forked out £900 quid to have my bonnet, front wheel arches and lower bumper respreayed due to stone chips! Car is 1 year old
