Paint peeling off.............

Opened the bonnet today and noticed that the paint on both the U fittings that lock the bonnet closed have paint coming of them already, down to shiny metal. Not sure if it is safe to smear a light coating of grease on them as a corrosion preventative measure. Any views from the techy types here?

I would put one or two layers of White tape around it, not to much though other wise it won't lock

I'd send the photos to your Dealers to instigate a warranty claim or seek an agreed remedy before touching them Tim....as we had exactly the same issue with our last FL2 hinges & that's what we did, albeit I can't recall what was done as I have owned circa 20 cars in the last 2 years...

Did you resolve your electric tailgate issue of earlier?

I've owned 8 other Land Rover products in the last 15 years and none of them have had that happen so by my experience it isn't a common problem even for Land Rovers

I know it's not really the point, but a touch of waxoyl or similar on the hook and a squirt into the lock mechanism would probably keep everything moving and corrosion free? Does seem to be a strange component to paint in the first place...

RE: Paint peeling off.............

As mentioned above it does seem strange to paint the latching points of the bonnet and being a white car it's probably more noticeable than on a silver/OG/Stornoway Grey car. From the construction of the bonnet it looks like the entire bonnet is assembled before painting but then there are rubber seals and struts fitted that can only be done after painting, so why not the latches as well?
