Out of warranty

My 2014 car has just outgrown its warranty, LR of course are happy to sell me extended warranty at some insane price but I was wondering what others on the site do?

I generally change cars before they loose warranty but I'm not exactly keen on changing the evoque, it's been a great battle ship for all round use.

Do the evoque tend to go badly after 3-4 years or are they relatively reliable. I'm still paying pcp on mine so I'm worried about getting sacked engine/gearbox trouble etc and having to front that on top of the monthly payments, I only have 45,000 miles on it but for me he most I've ever had on any car so it's a brave new world for me.

Do you guys buy extended warranty packs or do you just roll on with it?

RE: Out of warranty

i bought a 2 year extended warranty at the beginning, bringing it up to five years all up, and it will finish next month. Touch wood, my Evoque has been very reliable so far, and i intend on keeping it, as i still love this car immensely, and it somehow has that feeling of dependability about it, normally associated with japanese cars.

RE: Out of warranty

I have landrover extended approved on mine, won't renew when its out, can't see the evoque costing as much as my prev discos and ffrr when they went wrong.

After all it is just a ford cougar in a range rover frock!

RE: Out of warranty

IIRC the LR warranty isn't underwritten by LR, it is like all their accessories - a hugely marked up product licensed to have their brand name stamped on it.......... it is provided by a 3rd party. Many of the guys on RRSport.co.uk have discussed extended warranties so worth going and reading what they have to say on there. RRS is a hugely expensive car to repair when things go wrong so correct coverage is essential. I'm sure that Evoque will be like RRS2 and the other models built in the last 5-6 years and be a lot more reliable and cheaper to repair.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Out of warranty

If you roll with it like me then you need to have somewhere you trust to take it to, Ideally not a dealer. I have a very reputable LR independent approved Specialist, they're still quite expensive, but cheaper than a dealer, and you know you can trust what they say and do.

I'm 5.25 years in, and had 1 failure I decided to pay for (DPF sensor), 2 I've fixed myself (Xenon Ballast and Brakes).

RE: Out of warranty

My car is 3 years old on the 1st March and I already have extended the warranty because much as I love it I am not so blind as to realise it can and might go wrong.
Recently the DPF sensor was replaced which had it not been under warranty would have cost the same as a years warranty, it has had one or two things go wrong which I am pleased were covered under warranty.
How many hours do you get for £800 at any garage today let alone parts and roadside recovery?

RE: Out of warranty

So, are you saying that an extra years warranty including LRA is around the £800 mark?

RE: Out of warranty

The cost as far as I am aware was £850 for Warranty, MOT Test warranty and Roadside assistance.
In my case this was paid in September through outstanding credit owed to me by Land Rover.
