If your dealer is not giving good service then name and shame them
Also if your dealer gives good service tell us about that as well

The dealer is Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton - they've been quite awful. The service dept are okay but haven't managed to fix it and, when I collected it on Friday, have done something to the parking sensors so now they don't work properly either.

My next plan is to email the dealer's manager and ask that he buys the car back.

Can't fault Lennock Landrover in Canberra. Sales and Service has been faultless.
Just shows you have to do homework on the dealer and the car...

Fedup,
Take it to a different Dealer, you don't have to use the same one.
You could try:
Lookers Park Royal
Hadley Green in Barnet
Guava in Guildford
They all have a good reputation on this and other forums and armed with a different perspective on your faults would add weight to your attempt to persuade the supplying Dealer to buy it back.

Thanks for the advice. After Guy Salmon failed to repair it, I took it to Hunters in Guildford. It went there two or three times and then the engineer told me that, because all the roof trim comes out the boot, it's a big job and so more rattles are likely to appear trying to repair the ones that were there. He suggested I give-up and try and ignore them. So I did.... until I got driven in a Discovery across a field and realised the noises in my cabin really aren't normal, so I took it back to Guy Salmon again.

RE: No-end of problems, LR's only answer is to keep taking it to the workshop

I had a Jaguar XF that continually had serious problems with the dpf system over 16 months. It had to be recovered 6 times; the last from Switzerland. Jaguar sent out their own engineers but to no effect so I sought legal advice on my rights in these circumstances. Firstly it appeared that after 6 months the possibility of rejecting the car and having it replaced or refunded has gone. The only option was to threaten legal action and demand that they buy the car back. The price to which I would be entitled was the retail value of a similar car in good condition. This was OK apart from the fact the I did not expect to change my car after 16 months and that the change would result in massive depreciation, in my case some £18k. My dealer was at all times helpful and understanding, always supplying me with replacement cars that gave no trouble. I was left having to bite the bullet and get rid of the car if I wanted to get a reliable car. The dealer sold the car on my behalf and negotiated a customer loyalty payment in the form of a discount of £3k off the negotiated price on another Jaguar/Land Rover product. This resulted in the purchase of our Evoque which I'm pleased to say has been totally reliable over 18 months and 20k miles.

So the latest update is that the dealer have offered to buy it back at 'full market value'. Although I'm yet to discover how much that is.

Unfortunately I'm quite sure it won't be the £38k that I'm spending on the BMW...!

Be very careful about what you accept as the Si4 is hugely popular for RHD export markets where they cannot get enough of them - LR has embargoed sales of Si4 in the UK as they think that foreign crims are ordering them for immediate export - especially if they are also ordered with solar attenuating glass as that is not a common option in the UK and extremely popular in warm and sunny places where a lot of stolen UK cars end up. There are specialist export
buyers in some parts of the country would will pay over the odds for a good used RHD Si4 that they can sell on at a big premium in places like Malaysia, East Africa, West Africa, Sri Lanka and former colonies

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

They should offer you the cost of buying a similar vehicle to yours but will probably offer you something closer to trade-in value but dig-in for the retail price. As for the foreign demand for petrol models I'm sure the dealer will tell you there is no demand for this model in the UK and hence the difficulty of buying one.
I'm not sure that buying a car in the UK and exporting it is a criminal activity, it used to be very common the other way round when we benefited from the very weak Euro.
