Next car spec
Hi all
For everything I love about my Evoque, there is an issue also (rattles, build quality issues etc.) and so regretfully I am starting to think about changing. This got me thinking though...... I have a Dynamic with Lux pack, and being a 'gadget lover' I love all the toys..... But which are actually useful?
I know I could live without the TV, park assist, and 825 stereo. I also know I love the panoramic roof and electric tailgate. But what about surround cameras and blind spot monitoring?? I keep changing my mind as to whether I use them just because they are there or because they are actually useful!!
Cameras are helpful when parking (especially in tight multi-storeys) and blind spot monitoring is great on motorway (was life saving when driving through blizzards last winter) - but can I justify paying the options cost on my next car?
Thoughts very welcome!! Thanks.

RE: Next car spec
With 2014MY the Surround Cams, Blindspot Monitoring and Park Assist are now tied in with other functions such as perpendicular parking and approaching traffic detection when you are reversing out of parking slot. Then there is is the water depth sensor........ Not likely to be a huge seller on RRE I would imagine unless you live in an area liable to flooding.
I must admit that I can live without the Park Assist and have never used it on my own car as I never have to parallel park. Surround cams are the same, once the novelty wore off........... Hardly ever used. As I drive solo 98% of the time the TV isn't used much and same with the 825w - I rarely listen to high quality recordings and 99% of the time I listen to Radio4 in the car so a hightech radio isn't really necessary.

RE: Next car spec
FWIW, the Lux Pack appears to add value come resale time because it's in the model description, a bit like Autobiography on the bigger cars.
If you pick and choose you're likely to be hit come resale; the only options my dealer was interested in was the glass roof and the tailgate. I think you have to look through the eyes of a secondhand buyer. The toys may help the sale along but few will attach value to them.
Accessories add nothing, so I will be removing mine in the hope I can get something for them on eBay, but delivery will be difficult. Mud-flaps have to stay because fitting them involves drilling.
I like the surround cameras, very useful for squeezing into a tight space and have chosen then over the wading sensor - cool though it is - because you cannot have both.
I think the reversing camera is great but the blind spot and all the new reversing options I can do without. I think the adaptive Xenons are good and will have them again.

RE: Next car spec
I've just had a valuation done on my car - Coupe Auto Dynamic Plus Lux - so the only options it doesn't have are Metallic paint, smokers pack, solar reflective front screen, High Beam Assist and a spare wheel. It has 19930 miles on it and I have been told between £31000 and £32500............. it is 2 years and one day old today. Cost new £48000 so the good days of low depreciation are over, especially for Coupe owners. Two dealerships valued the car and one of them seems to have a forecourt overflowing with late plate cars so maybe now, just after a registration year plate change isn't a good time to be looking for a valuation when there is a lot of stock in the dealership network

Ouch that is fairly steep depreciation. I'm intending on keeping mine for the duration if all remains reliable. The only thing that I'm not impressed with so far is the fuel economy (and the front tyre wear - mine have lasted just under 15000 miles and are almost done!). Not getting rid anytime soon.

Mods - Black RR bonnet vents, Side steps, Silicone rear wiper, rear sill protector, rear sill plates, LED interior lighting conversion, 2014 Sat Nav update.

RE: Next car spec
which tyres do you have? Mine is running Craptinentals and I'm very pleased with the wear so far - after 20k miles they still look unworn

Blimey 16000 miles on mine still got more than 6mm tread! Ok 4000 done on another set but still, either you corner hard or you're tracking is out! Many on here have mentioned the good wear rate.
