New order times March 2013

Finally decided to place my order after contemplating various options over the last few weeks. Shopped around a few dealers as although the price is pretty much fixed, the finance from the best to the worst saved me around £2k over 3 years. Finally went for an Pure Tech SD4 Auto 5 door in Santorini black and ebony interior. Options: Panoramic, Privacy, Front Fogs and Rear Camera.

The dealer has quoted a delivery of late April for a brand new order as nothing matched the spec from their allocation already in production. This would be about 6 weeks which was much quicker than expected and wondered how this compared with other orders or whether this was just the dealer being optimistic?

I was quoted a similar lead time for mine. I ordered at the end of Jan and I collect it on Monday. Would have been ready earlier but it's a company lease car so that took a little longer.

Into build 5th March,
Dealer was able to request transport from factory to premises 12th March, probably a delay here due to week end on 8th/9th....

I got the impression that although the factory is still running at full capacity, i.e 24 hours a day, demand has dropped slighlty but they seem keen to keep it running at full belt, hence the advertising and discounts that are now being offered.I'd imagine if the European market wasn't so tough, lead times would be longer.

RE: New order times March 2013

If you shop around dealers and look on the websites there are plenty available for "instant" delivery, ie within a week.
Now the word is out that there is a new set of engines coming in the next 2 years (JLR's new Hotfire engines built in-house)and the 9 speed gearbox later this year I suspect lots of people will hold back on orders until 2014MY specs are released.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
